Blood will Flow

A tad late but here's my offering for the lovely firesign10, who asked for anything Sam, Dean or SPN-ish.
A quick pencil sketch of Samifer and Dean (from the vision of the future rather than Zachariah's more complex End construction).

I may well only do one - my record on daily challenges is poor - but here's Graveyard.
Looks like things haven't gone well for Dean.

Image description: in rough line and wash black and white, dark trees in the background, in the mid-ground two plain leaning gravestones with a fragile-looking statue of an angel in between. The angel has her right hand pressed to her cheek and holds a bunch of flowers in her right hand down by her side. In the foreground amid unkemp vegetation Dean is prone, most of his body isn't visible. Dean's facing the viewer with his eyes open. There's blood on his forehead and cheek.

Materials:
Drawn using Art Graf soft carbon pencil, washed over with water brushes, then some detailing was done on top of the washes with a finepoint marker and more soft carbon.

I only did two fills for spn_masquerade, and now (of course!) I'm not happy with either of them - argh. But for completeness, here they are.

Started painting my Cambridge cow this morning. It wasn't too bad in terms of temperature out in the garage, I wore thermals and fleeces and survived just fine, but it's pretty dirty in there, and I kept getting bits of dust and tiny fragments of dead leaves stuck on the wet paint because I had to work with the garage door open for the light. So that's a nuisance and I don't know what I can do about it. I hadn't noticed it being a problem last time I used their garage for the bee and the giraffe - maybe it's because I'm using lighter colours at the moment, for this base coat.
I was going to do a time lapse series but realised my camera battery was too low, so just took a couple of pics.( Read more... )

Ages ago there was a meme on tumblr (or somewhere) to take an old drawing/painting and try doing it again to see what differences there are, if any, in your style, competency, etc. I'd been meaning to have a go at this challenge for ages, then for some reason this old drawing from 2012 got my attention, so...Remix time!

Here's the old pencil drawing which is fiddled with in photoshop or GIMP, because I remember the eyes were in the wrong place. I know I added white highlights too, and some digital shading.( Read more... )

I never caught up with Inktober, so I think I'll just keep the prompt list and gradually fill up my little book as I get inspired. In the meantime, my weekly sketchbooking course continues. This week there was no class because it's half term, so I met up with Debbie, the lady I first met on the free walking sketching day.

I was given this cool Samifer sketch by Nadia to work from.


I toyed with the idea of doing Samifer in the process of dying, impaled on Michael's sword, but then decided to go with something simpler.
