I don't know why I wanted to torture myself by going there, but I just felt this scene is so central to everything, it had to be done.

Process as usual - pencil, ink then watercolour. I tried something different with the design of this one, to convey something about the way Sam's visions in the story are so unsettling and unbalance him.
I used a fine brush pen for the inking rather than the more precise fineliners I usually go for.

Thank you! I can't remember which paint I used for the purple/blue/black areas but the deep red was a handmade scarlet with magnetite by Kwarts Creations on Etsy, which granulates like crazy and is so fun to use. You can move the magnetite particles using magnets if you want to play with effects but I haven't tried that yet.
