I woke up too soon this morning.
I was in the middle of a dream about a (kind of???!!) convention panel, probably prompted by all the talk of solo panels we've had recently, because Jensen was on his own.
He was also totally naked, and we were all lying down in sleeping bags on the floor while he wandered about in all his golden glory, totally nonchalant.  Got to say it was a FINE display. Phwoar, he has a peachy arse.
I think we got to ask him questions but at one point he was looking out of a window then suddenly asked us "What do you think - Jared and Jensen - the Movie?" Obviously we were delighted but I had to pipe up with 'Yes, before your bodies go to pot'. Jensen gave me one of his patented Jensen looks, and I then compounded my embarrassment by saying I hoped it would be adult rated. LOL
I think Jared would have appeared next so I'm sad I woke up at that point.

I've been doing various little challenges via Instagram artists in an attempt to practice new things, like gouache and watercolour techniques.
Firstly there's the Pantone challenge by Bigbluetang, where she sets a pantone colour and we try and do something arty on a square of that colour. I have a box of 100 Pantone postcards so I'm using those. So far I've done a few, with big gaps in between (Bigbluetang is doing one a day for 30 days!)
The surface is rather shiny so it's not the easiest to paint on, plus it's a bit small (about 2.5 inches square), so they are varying in their successfulness.
This is one I did today. I'm not over fond of it, but it's ok I suppose.Read more... )

Inktober is doing a weekly challenge this year and this week is the first time I've managed to fit one in. Of course, with a prompt like hammer, I was bound to think of Demon Dean, right?
Imagine him singing Pete Seeger's If I had a Hammer...

For the spn_j2_bigbang
Title: Hidden in the Right Place
Author: smalltrolven
Artist: Me!
Pairing: Sam/Dean
Summary: A demon escapes
from Hell to kidnap Dean and makes him forget everything, even himself. Will he
break and give in before Sam can save him? How far will Sam go to
rescue his brother?

Thanks to smalltrolven for her patience with me - I was so slow and everything was very last minute!

Art warnings: Dean in chains, topless - I wouldn't count that as NSWF but some might. ;)

Ah the weirdness of dreams. Warning for long rambling narrative - this is really just here for me.

(I also have no idea who the 'we' was. I know I wasn't alone most of the time, but my companion seemed to be some sort of amalgam of all my fanfriends).

1. Are you Irish?
Not for several generations. I was always told my Granddad's family came over from Ireland in the late 1900s but when I did a bit of family history research it was rather hard to track his side back, because they were all called John and kept spelling their surname in different ways from one census to the next. On my Dad's side are Byrnes and Carrolls (the latter being generally from the Cork area), and on my Mum's side there are Healeys (also Irish) but the farthest relatives I managed to trace were firmly English - a blacksmith on a country estate in Surrey. I do have some distant cousins in Ireland but haven't had any contact with them since I was a wee child. But nearly everyone in Liverpool has some sort of Irish connection.
2. Do you like Guinness?
I assume not, I've never tried it because I don't like the taste of alcohol. Yeah, I'm a weirdo, but very happy about it.
3. Do you know what the symbol of Ireland is?
Republic's the harp, the North is the red hand. As an aside, the Byrne's have three white hands on our coat of arms.
4. Have you ever watched Father Ted?
Is the Pope Catholic?
5. Do you believe in leprechauns?
Only in the company of Winchesters.

Thanks to bratfarrar for pointing me to this little bit of nonsense. Disturbingly, clicking on it took me to the new format posting page, which remains as horrible and clunky as the first time I checked it out and ran away screaming.
Thank goodness for the wee option hidden away at the bottom of the page that allowed me to switch back!
So. Popular, huh. I bet they say that to all the girls.

Season 6

Rewatching Season 6 Episode 16 - damn, I miss Rufus and Bobby! The CW definitely missed  a trick not making those two their spin off show. Just think, we could have had Rufus and Bobby sassing each other on hunts while Jody and Donna did the same but different - it would have been kickass and hilarious, and the Winchesters could have dropped in occasionally so that Bobby could call them idjits and Jody and Donna could talk about them taking their shirts off. Awesome!

Went to see Lion today - now that's more like a film! It had a story that you wanted to follow, characters you sympathised or empathised with, it was wonderfully acted - child actor, little Saroo, you are effing AMAZING! In addition, it had some mightly fine eye candy in the shape of the beautiful Dev Patel *melts in those dark, dark eyes; longs to run hands though that glorious hair...*

So yep, I enjoyed that one ten times more than LaLaLand.

Totally unrelated but amusing - Paul's bother came round the other day and mentioned that he now works with a chap called Andrew Violens (pronounced violence). Sadly, Brian D'eath and Phil Fear have both retired, so Tony can't tell VAT defaulters he will send round Fear, Death and Violence to sort them out.An

And another unrelated aside - I had a stupidly emotional moment this morning, parting with all my sporting paraphinalia but in particular, my hockey sticks and bag. The charity shop came round to pick up seven bags of clothes, bedding and suchlike, and for a brief moment I clung onto my stick bag and nearly didn't hand it over. Even though I know damn well I'm never going to play hockey (or squash, or badminton, or cricket) ever again. Doh. What an idjit.

Well it's all gone now.

Isn't miscellaneous a lovely word? Anyhow, my mini knight has arrived. He seems to be made out of ceramic and is eminently breakable as well as rather small. Painting a mock up of my design is definitely going to be challenging!Read more... )

Mum's garden is looking glorious, and her vegetables are growing well. So well that she is affronted at their abundance. She came to me with two fistsful of broad beans and a look on her face that rivalled Sam Winchester for bitch-faced exasperation. "Look at this, MORE beans! Isn't it ridiculous?" Her face said. I restrained my reply of - you planted the little green feckers, you must have expected this! and just agreed when she said she'd maybe take some when we go see my aunties tomorrow. She already got rid of four bags full of beans yesterday, leaving them on the driveway with a please help yourself notice.

Myself, I'm affronted that she's already given away bags full of gooseberries instead of saving them for me! LOL

I went to Cambridge today to meet up with my JIB roomie, Ana and on the way home I spotted this JDM-alike! So of course I had to take a sneaky paparazzi picture of the poor unsuspecting yet devilishly handsome chap.

Yep, I know, I'm all out of order, but better late than never, hey.

Day 10: In your own space, post a rec for fannish and/or creative resources and spaces. Tell us where you go to dig up canon facts for your fandom, or where you get all the juicy details about your favorite ship. Where do you like to hang out and squee like a squeeing thing?

Obviously I use superwiki for research, and google images, but there are a number of websites and communities I've collected over the years, so I'll stick them here in case that are any that might be of use to anyone else. Um. This got a bit long. Sorry about that LOL

Yep, it's that time again! I have c 8400 words of spn_cinema fic in need of a beta, if anyone has time? It has to be posted before the end of the month so we have a few days to sort it out.
All sorted, thanks!
It's Supernatural, Gen, based (quite loosely) on the film Warrior. There is talk about brain injuries, and some fairly graphic brutal fight scenes (or at least I kind of hope they are!) so if that bothers you, you won't want to do this one.

Today at breakfast we met up with Brit friends we haven't seen for about 3-4 years which was lovely. Breakfast in this hotel is interesting - we have potato salad with chopped gherkins, egg mayonnaise with chopped peppers, scrambled egg with bacon, salad bits, rice pudding with sliced apple and raisins (which is delicious) and lots of different breads, smoked cheeses and other stuff I haven't really looked at because it's meat.

A day late (again) - this one's for sw0rdy What do you think Dean would love/hate most about the UK?

Dean would LOVE that we have two kinds of pie. He could have meat & potato pie for his main course followed by apple pie with lashings of custard for desert. Within a week he would have put on two stone and Sam would have to wheel him from pub to pub in order to sample steak & kidney pie followed by blackcurrant and apple, or pork pie followed by strawberry & gooseberry...
"Oh fuck, Sammy, I think I'm gonna burst!"
"For god's sake, Dean, I told you to go easy on that lamb, pea and mint pie."
"Yeah, I think the peas and mint tipped me over the edge..."

And Dean would hate that he'd have to leave his Baby behind - but I suppose that would be the same for anywhere outside the continental US so... Ok - he'd probably hate the fact that Sam would be geeking out all the time about the history. So much of it, everywhere you look - old buildings and old stuff. Probably full of old ghosts too, you know? just because it's old doesn't mean it's interesting, Sammy.
