2. Where the wind blows

j2_reversebang number 2! The lovely MorganaDW pulled out all the stops and was working until the last minute on this epic - a true hero!

Summary: Once upon a time, Jared Padalecki was a young, happy, open man who, despite a horrifying childhood incident and many family issues, still enjoyed his life. That was until a random trip to Monte Carlo introduced him to the best and the worst of life.

Five years later, after watching someone he loved sacrifice himself to keep him safe, he was a private man who kept to himself in his home in the hills of Monterey.

When rumors surface that the man who had cost Jared so much might be alive and closing in, he hatches a plan to learn the truth, unaware that someone else is also watching over him.

The prompt art
J2 reverse2 draft

The art is a mix of traditional pencil drawing and then digital colouring. I had thought to re-draw it all, because there were inaccuracies that were (are still!) bugging me, but alas, I was too disorganised and the deadline crept up on me.

I'm so looking forward to reading catnipster69's fic, it sounds right up my street! Both my authors for this RB have been beavering away right to the wire so reading the stories is going to be such fun.

2025 J2 reverse Jax Bar final

Watercolour and a bit of fineliner. I put little visuals in there so someone could run with a space or futuristic/post apocalypse world if they wanted, or keep it in this world, whatever direction they fancied. I love to see how an image sparks something for someone else!

So excited to have two Eldritch Reverse offerings with two fab writers!
This is the first, with someone I haven't worked with before,

candygramme. Strange that after all this time in fandom that our paths hadn't crossed before, so it was lovely to work with her at last. Thank you for choosing my picture and being inspired!

Here's my prompt. I didn't take any in progress pictures, but the painting is done in gouache on a background of acrylic ink wash in my sketchbook.

I was inspired by this photo by Americansquares on Instagram. They have some great photos of diners, street scenes etc; well worth checking out if you love Americana. The photo links to their Instagram page.

The art was somewhat thrown together, my first all-digital piece for a long time because I was in a rush, but I was happy enough with it. It does the job as a story prompt, I think, and certainly

Blimey, it feels like an age since I posted - must be due an art dump!

Anyway, this is my first of two

spn_reversebang's - both with hero pinch hit authors, for which I'm very grateful! This one was saved (appropriately enough) by the fabulous brightly_lit and you can find the story, Savior to Savior HERE.
It's one of my favourite tropes, an outsider POV, but don't be put off by the crossover part. I can vouch for this being a great read without knowing the first thing about Travelers, but I'm also sure if you are a fan of that show, you'll enjoy this too! I'm definitely a Philip fan now.
Here's my untitled prompt that inspired the fic

And this is the underlying sketch - just pencil on paper. The final piece has a digital overlay to provide a bit of atmosphere.

The prompt art

For once I don't have much to say about this - I was experimenting with Procreate on my iPad, and really liked how this digital paint turned out. I liked the messiness and dynamism, and that the colouring was rather different from my usual. I thought it might be a cool prompt for a story, and sure enough, mina has done me proud!

I only submitted one prompt to the j2_reversebang this year and was lucky enough to have the lovely merenwen76 choose my Witchy Jared. I was delighted when she came up with an idea I hadn't thought of, and created a whole world based on the image. If you like fantasy AUs, you'll love this charming world. Merenwen has given us the cutest magic potion as an antidote to this topsy turvy real life we're living.
