Haven't done a Sketchbook update for a while so here's a small one.

Stan Prokopenko's doing his usual Advent videos with helpful stuff, and there was one about meditation and automatic drawing that had me itching for paper and pencil. I've included the vid in the post in case anyone wants to have a go - and this guy is very soothing to watch even if you don't want to draw anything yourself.( Read more... )

This did not turn out how I'd hoped. *sigh* But I had limited time with travelling back from Manchester today, so it will have to do. I soaked the hell out of the paper trying to get rid of the parts where the black lines were just too dark... I think I need to try some different techniques. Like, for instance, using a brush and washes without using a brush pen first.

The Creative Sketchbooking course has been more about drawing stuff this term so far - much more my comfort zone than playing with flour and chalk.

I was trying to fins a decent reference for a drawing I have in mind and found a website selling loads of computer modelled poses. Interestingly enough, the M/M poses seem to be largely modelled on a certain couple of actors we know and love....

bt_kady just had a hysterectomy, and they found tumors in the organs. Hopefully, the biopsy will show that it didn't spread yet. Nevertheless, Kathy has to expect a boatload of medical bills that she won't be able to pay. I actually got off my fat backside and did something today. I'd signed up for this free event a while ago and was poised on the brink of chickening out, but forced myself to go - and of course I really enjoyed it. It was a walk round Holywells Park and Landseer Park (which I'd never realised were so close together before), and they provided a sketch book and pencils to use. The idea was we would stop every now and then and draw something, but I think I spent more time talking than drawing! The woman I talked to most mustn't have been too put off though, as she suggested we meet up to do some sketching again sometime soon. Which is a nice idea - I need to get out more and to use actual art materials instead of sitting on the sofa using PS6 all the time.

So anyway, here's the results of the stroll'n'sketch:

Taking a break from all the things I should be doing, I've done this work, inspired by kassidy62's moving alternative Season 4 vignette for the quicky_bang. You can read the fic here - it's only 1000 heartbreaking words long.
