Challenge 8 is to try doing some art using your non dominant hand.

I don't think I've tried drawing left handed since I was at school so this was interesting!
Especially as I forgot that using the left hand I should have started the picture on the right and worked across, instead of on the left - which meant I spent most of the time trying to lift my hand to avoid smudging the damn thing!

It's supposed to be Captain America. The other interesting thing, apart from how wobbly my hand is, drawing lines, is how basically I made the same errors I do with my right hand. His face is still too long and thin... It was actually easier to control the pencil when I held it on its side more.

After a discussion about WWII and superhero movies, mostly with dear_tiger, I found this vid today, and it's totally cracking me up.

It's a bit long but it gets better and better, and I especially love the Slash homage in the middle! monicawoe, I hope you've seen this!

I suppose this sad, lonely, lost atmosphere wouldn't have fit in the final version of the Avengers - it's nice to have it preserved though.

I think I am definitely losing count here - but I'll just run with whatever day I think it is, blow it. So Day 23's photo is the billboard poster in the pictures this afternoon, and today's happy dancing was due to finally getting to see Captain America, the Winter Soldier. And I was even happier that it didn't disappoint, given that me and my cinema buddy have been looking forward to this one for what feels like eons.

I liked how it didn't try and wrap up all the story lines, there was plenty of blowing stuff up and kicking arses, but there was quite a lot of thinky thoughts in there as well - and not so much that the momentum was lost. (Well in my opinion, anyway). I enjoyed the filling in of more backstory, I loved how Steve's integrity drove everything in the end, and how the film questioned the whole idea of overwhelming force as a deterrent.

I loved Falcon - how cool to have wings like that and hey, it didn't hurt that he is so very pretty too. On that note, aren't Chris Evans' eye lashes to die for?

Spoilers ahoy!!!

So anyway, I loved it, and will be buying the DVD. *Nods*

My first real venture into the Avengers verse, thanks to the bad influence of my lovely friend tryfanstone who wrote this fic for the comics_bb
You can read this wonderful Russian (yes Russian) AU either on Jay's website , here on LJ or on AO3 if you prefer.

Summary: This is the Red Son reboot, in which Steve Rogers' childhood heroes were aviators and polar explorers, and Tony Stark grew up reading Captain America comics in Siberia.
Warnings: One NSFW picture

First, the cover.  I accidentally made Steve a bit stern-looking instead of just serious.Large images (and one NSFW image) under the cut )
