For this month's Drawesome challenge to explore unconventional body shapes and sizes in art. No instagram ready glam here.

I'd been wondering what to draw, then I thought about all the wonderful and various models we've had for our life drawing, so here are a few of my sketches.

Ex army, very upright and still when modelling. Early 70s.

I've left out the models who were more conventional shapes, but we used to have such a great variety of people, I really miss those sessions!

Some lovely folk over on our Marvel Art Party discord group decided to set up a Pinup Calendar project, and their hard work has paid off with a bunch of lovely sexy art!
My Mr February (go check out the other artist's offerings and months!) is Eddie Brock and Venom with a Superbowl theme. Whether the actual Superbowl will even happen in February 2021, who knows - but at least we'll have Eddie and Venom, right?

Bhangra bear is coming along, his waistcoat is taking a while but is starting to look how I envisaged it so yay! The combination of paint and acrylic markers is working well, though the markers lose their nib integrity pretty quickly so I'm having to trim them back with scissors.

The sketchbooking class has been interesting - I can't say I'm enjoying everything we're doing but it is certainly great for pushing me outside my comfort zone! The last few of weeks he's been getting us to look at uses of colour to imply distance, suggest relationships between objects and create interest. The three pictures below are the results of my efforts.
First was an attempt to show distance through shades of colour. I'm not sure that what I did followed his instructions, because he was talking about using bluer shades for the more distant objects, and I didn't do that. The painting is pretty naff, but I did enjoy messing about with these colours.( Lots of images (incl some NSFW) under the cut )

The first of my two spn_j2_bigbang artings - huzzah! A multitude of thanks to the phenomenon that is wendy for organising this challenge once again.

This fic, wriitten by the lovely enderberlyn, gives us an interesting twist on the Darkness, and a different version of Season 11. It was a cool story to art for, because it meant I was free to create my own vision of the Darkness, based on enderberlyn's excellent descriptions.

I had this idea in mind for spn_heatwave, and had got as far as an outline sketch, but totally failed to meet the deadline. But I was procrastinating over doing other things today and ended up finishing this instead. The idea came from a prompt by madebyme_x which asked for getting caught in a summer storm with rain and lightning.

What it says on the tin. It's strangely beautiful (though I could have done without the fancy effects, I think it is fascinating enough just watching the flow of the dance with the tattoos and the veil.

Due to poor planning on my part, and overloading myself, I ended up with just two main pieces which I then cannibalised into a set.
