Athletics and mad Vikings

Today at breakfast we met up with Brit friends we haven't seen for about 3-4 years which was lovely. Breakfast in this hotel is interesting - we have potato salad with chopped gherkins, egg mayonnaise with chopped peppers, scrambled egg with bacon, salad bits, rice pudding with sliced apple and raisins (which is delicious) and lots of different breads, smoked cheeses and other stuff I haven't really looked at because it's meat.
The stadium security was stricter today, my bottle of water failed to pass scrutiny, unlike yesterday. So I was forced to buy stadium priced drinks. Which are actually still pretty cheap compared to most places so I shouldn't complain. Our luxury Skybox is worth every penny, even though the tour organiser has now asked us not to tell other people on the tour where we are sitting, or how luxurious it is as they won't be happy us late bookers got better seats than they did!
The event is going well, we've had more success to cheer about, and the enthusiasm of the Czech supporters for their athletes is making for a great atmosphere.
I'm happy to report we bumped into Karl the Swede on the metro on the way home - he's often featured on tv as he's pretty distinctive in his ancient yellow and blue Swedish tracksuit and his yellow and blue peaked cap with Viking horns, covered with pins from all the events he's been to over the years. Someone told us he's given up alcohol but I think not, he did smell a bit but he wasn't quite as boisterous as he has been in the past when he was plastered, so maybe he's practising a bit of restraint. I got away with a handshake instead of being smished to his bosom this time LOL!
This is Karl from a few years ago. i think he was a bit sozzled at the time. He's a sweetie but a tad overwhelming when drunk.
