The Faroe Islands have been annually killing pilot whales and dolphins for centuries, and the practice has continued even though the population no longer need to eat this meat to survive. This year's slaughter has been particularly terrible, and there's an international outcry. There's also a petition - if you could sign it too, that would be a great way to put some pressure on the Faroese to stop this barbaric practice forever.
The petition link is here - be aware that there are photos of the massacred pod of 1500 white sided dolphins when you click through. But please don't let that stop you because us taking action mya be the only way to stop this continuing, year after year.

She is a wonderfully kind and helpful person, and a positive presence in the fandom world. Unfortunately, she recently experienced an injury which ultimately led to one of her feet being amputated. Her significant medical bills from surgery and rehab are compounded by her having been in the middle of moving cross-country. I don't know if you are aware, but two articles - Article 11 and Article 13 - that could greatly impact on our ability to post fanfic and fan art online have been passed by the European Parliament. However, there is still a chance to lessen the impact, by urging our MEPs to make sure options that avoid filtering uploads or restricting links are chosen.

This legislation could mean automatic filters will prevent us uploading anything that resembles something considered to be IPR beloinging to the big corporates. (I very much doubt it will help small businesses in any way!) So phrases used in Supernatural, or images that reuse recognisable stuff from the show may be blocked.

We need as many people as possible to contact our MEPs now.

If you need more information, this article is pretty good at explaining what's going on and what we need to say to our MEPs. Find their email, do it today. This legislation is draconian, unecessary - crazy. If we can do anything to stop it, we must.

Just wondering if anyone (preferably with a DW account though open id is ok) is available to proxy claim for me on Saturday 25th at noon Mountain time/19:00 UK time?

I'm hoping to get claims in for both the Marvel and the DC big bangs. The fic summaries aren't up until Friday, but if anyone volunteers I can ping my choices to you sometime Saturday morning, prior to claiming.

I'm not massively bothered if I don't get anything at all, so this isn't a high stress, big responsibility! :D

I have nearly 5k words written for a RPF AU which was going to be my Team Free Will bang. Except I am so stuck it's not funny, and I think a big part of the reason I'm stuck is that the original idea was never meant to have Misha/Castiel in it. This was just going to be a (short) story about Jensen with issues, and his growing relationship with new boy Jared. There was going to be a prisoner, a rescue and reunion, and that was about it. But trying to make it fit as a TFW by adding Misha in there (especially giving him equal weight to J2) is doing my head in.

80% drafts are due tomorrow. I've no idea whether what I've got is 80% or 20% or what the hell it is, and I don't know if I can finish it at all - even though in theory I don't have to have a completed fic until September.

So advice please.

Do I

pull out now and write this story how I originally wanted to, minus shoe-horned characters?

switch it from RPF to SPN and see if that frees up the log-jam?

send in what I've got as my 80% and keep plugging away at it in the hope that I can lick it into shape before September?

Bearing in mind that some poor artist is going to get lumbered with it if I carry on.

At the moment I'm angling towards door number 1.

Help! I have a c 10k fic nearly finished that needs betaing before Monday because I'm a slow coach writer and am down to the wire on this one. It's for spn_cinema and features a Sam and Jensen pairing with one fairly mild sex scene between them. The story is set during Mystery Spot at a point where Dean is currently dead.

Any takers? I can send the draft to you in the next 2-3 hours and will love you forever if you can get it back to me in the next 24-36 hours so I can edit and post it while it's still Monday in the UK.

I'm going to the London Film & Comic Con on Saturday and am getting an autograph from a certain actor - so I thought I'd try using the new pastels on coloured paper techniques to create something for him to sign. But, dear flisties, does this look enough like him to ask him to sign it?
All concrit gratefully received.

If it is recognisable and not too awful, I'll use this. If it needs tweaking I can have a go. If it's not good enough I'll start again. The colours haven't photographed quite right, this makes it look like there's a lot of white on his face that isn't so glaring on the drawing. (I think/hope).

I signed up for both art and writing for the DWBB, which is great, but I have NO idea what I want to write. Especially or mor particularly, what I want to write that hasn't been written before by either me or by someone else (and no doubt better than me).

I've got some WIPs languishing in folders on my laptop, but I'm not sure any of them have enough meat in them to get me to either the 5k or 10k minimums. I've also got a folder full of random ideas (most of which are only really any good for J2s though).

Maybe you chaps can help me decide. Here's what I've got already, either WIPs or just ideas:

Sam brings a girlfriend called Fleur back to the bunker. Dean isn't happy about it and thinks there's something off about Fleur, but he can't quite put his finger on what it is that is upsetting him - apart from the obvious - that having Sam banging a girl in their bunker is somewhat disturbing. Then Sam goes missing one night, leaving Dean and Fleur to look for him. There's owls and Celtic myths involved, and I've got 2k of this one written.

Dean adopts a stray dog called Angel who can see portals into other worlds and has imaginary friends. Nothing written at all on this one so I'd be starting from scratch with no plot, or anything more than that sentence.

Northern Exposure. A season 2 case fic that takes the boys to a remote town in Alaska to tangle with an Innuit witch. This one features some hurt!Dean, because that's what I do. I've got over 5k written but it's been sitting on my hard drive for 5 years so i'll probably have to rewrite it all.

Dean, the Queen and the Campervan. Sam & Dean encounter a VW campervan broken down in the desert and Sam volunteers Dean to fix it. Turns out it's owned by a drag queen on her way to (somewhere). I dunno about this one, it's kind of based on a weird dream I had about Dean and the actual Queen of England. Which might be also one way to take this idea.

Pretty is as pretty does. Dean is the victim of a spell or potion that makes him irresitibly attractive. It's funny until it isn't. I've got about 800 words written of this one, but no idea where the story should go.

At th moment I'm leaning towards #1 but I honestly don't know!

Ok. I had this idea a while ago about staging a mock lap dance in one of my double photo ops. I've even got some fake money to stuff in the lap dancer's pockets...

Originally I was going to do this in my Jared and Misha op, but I've got a lovely trashy Romance cover I want to try for that one now, so I'm thinking this could be my Jensen and Misha op. But WHO should I ask to be the lap dancer?

I want to get Jensen to do it but I'm scared of him LOL. So Flisties - do you think it should be Jensen or Misha?

Or should I do this in one of my J2 photos instead?

The cousin of a girl I went to High School is trying to win the van. Here story is here (FaceBook Link). "I would like to nominate myself and my little family. I am a single mother of 4 beautiful kids, I work hard to provide for my family and to make sure we have what we need. And what we need more then anything right now is a vehicle (and good health) My family has been through so much these past few years, and can't seem to catch a break. It seems as soon as I save almost enough money for a down payment on a car, something comes up. My 5 year old daughter was diagnosed with Epilepsy, so we have many ongoing doctor appointments in Spokane (we live approx. 40 mi away). This is our daily routine, and with this cold weather, it has been a bit rough. Winning a van and food will take so much weight and worries off of our shoulders, it will help us in so many ways. As many of you have likely seen on various newspapers and news stations around the world, millions of people from Syria have been displaced by the fighting going on in the country. Some have fled to the surrounding Middle Eastern nations but as those neighbors have been maxed out many more have continued onward to Europe and elsewhere in search of a safe place to live. Many have traveled with very little if anything in the way of day to day needs and the various agencies are struggling to provide anything more than just the bare essentials for so many people.

alycat made a post yesterday on her journal highlighting the difficulties the refugees are facing and asking for help going above and beyond to take care of them. So now I'm amplifying that call and passing it along to all of you by running this charity community.

As of right now there will be at least two options, either buy it now or traditional auctions with the possibility of more being added later if there's an interest. Both the buy it now and auction posts will open tonight, October 8, and run until Thursday, October 22, 11:59 pm Central Daylight Time.
