Let it burn - art for the quicky-bang

Taking a break from all the things I should be doing, I've done this work, inspired by kassidy62's moving alternative Season 4 vignette for the quicky_bang. You can read the fic here - it's only 1000 heartbreaking words long.
NB this is an interpretation not a literal scene from the fic but I hope you still like it, kassidy62!



I drew Sam and Dean in pencil first, then added all the colour in PS.
Here's a couple of in progress shots for those of you who like 'em.
I used 2B pencil for the first steps - Sam's profile didn't work out so well but I was quite pleased with Dean.

a bit more shading with 8B pencil and charcoal pencil, smudged with my little finger because I keep forgetting I've got those smudge stick thingies.

Ooooh, I like this a LOT. Love the determined look on Dean's face and I think Sam's profile looks amazing, you definitely got his pointy nose <3 Great effect added with the digital colouring, the way the light hits their faces is gorgeous! Very intense.

Thanks! I liked it early and have now got into the whole - huh, I'm not sure about it now stage, so it's nice to have a bit of validation! LOL

The fact that you didn't worry about an actual scene but went for the feel of it works perfectly for the Sturm und Drang heart of the story. I have a lot of affection stillfor this rather black-sheep, sorta experimental gloom-and-doom fest, though it's not often read. Thank you! I'm glad the story spoke to you.

Ooh, very nice! I really love their expressions.

Tip! If you don't like the smudger thingies/ forget you have them, a tissue works really well as a smudger as well. Just wrap it around your finger, or fold it into a small point. Works as a charm, and the advantage is that you won't get stains from the possible grease/ sweat on your finger. <3
