My sad excuse for a coffee painting appears for a fraction of a second at 1:10 but nothing else from our team's efforts, sadly. Maybe later.

This week fell at a bad time for me, as I was going away from the Thursday, plus two members of our already reduced team of nine ended up not taking part, while a third was not feeling it... I somehow doubt our team will take part again (at least not together in the same format). One invisible person added herself to our team early on then never replied to any emails (which is the only contact route GISH gave) so we have no idea who she was!

However, looking back at what I did, it wasn't too bad. I had said this year I was only going to do challenges I really fancied, and that I was going to try and make them as good as I possibily could. I don't think I quite managed that, but it was a moderate amount of fun! And my active team mates did some fricking awesome stuff, so there is that.

Anyhow, here is a glimpse of my (part) week.

#121 SIDE-BY-SIDE. You know those garden gnomes that dotted your grandmother’s backyard? Well, it’s been a while and now they have fallen on hard times. They have turned to a life of crime and misanthropy. Their little gnome hearts are filled with despair, hatred, and regret. Show us the before and after.

When gnomes go bad...things get very dark, very quick.

Thought I ought to do a round up post of my own items for the last ever GISHWHES, even though most of them were a bit crappy die to lack of time and access to resources, so don't feel obliged to scrutinise everything!

Happy/Sad

My Gish Team rocked this year (in spite of having a couple of absentees and some of us preoccupied with other things), I'm really proud of us, but at the same time very sad this is the last GISHWHES. What on earth am I going to do with all the 'possibly useful' junk I've accumulated 'just in case'? LOL

I'm going to do a GISH-post of my stuff when I get back from Liverpool but here's a short vid of most of our team's stuff (minus some items we're waiting for pictures of).

There's always a Misha and the Queen picture to do, and I did wait a bit this year before claiming it, in case someone else wanted to have a go. Nobody did.
This year's was On a desolate, dusty prairie, a ranch hand rescues the local school marm from a runaway horse. Create a drawing of
Misha & the Queen of England in the Wild West. (You pick who plays the school marm and who plays the ranch hand.)

I thought I'd put my other vidded tasks in this post.

Task: Time-lapse this submission to 30 seconds or less. Paint a Bob Ross painting. We must see both the painter replicating
the Bob Ross painting and the playback of the Bob Ross video the painter is replicating. You must paint in real-time
while he is painting. The video should end with a side-by-side comparison of your masterpiece and Bob Ross’s.

Here it is, a week inside two minutes - we did a lot!

It looks pretty good, but I know we don't have a demon's chance in Hell of winning. I've seen some of the stuff on Tumblr...

It's all over and I'm knackered! I also managed to make my poor friend Adele suffer through making a video of a goat in a boat when all we needed was a photograph. I can only hope the Judges give us points for enthusiasm - and for the amusement offered by the goat sound track.Read more... )

As part of GISHWHES (the best part really, in my view), all teams have been asked to help fundraise for Syrian refugee families in dire straits.
I don't care which team you donate under, or if you donate via Random Acts, but if you have a few dollars spare, this is the best of causes.

It's a sad, sorry world, so let's make it a little bit better for someone, hey?

HERE's the link to my Team's page. If you can't afford to give anything, please spread the word.

THANK YOU!

Some other stuff I did...
I tweeted Michelle Obama with gardening tips, which I'm sure she appreciated no end.

I'm back! Did you miss me? He he he of course not. But now GISHWHES madness is over and we are on our post-Gish-blues downward spiral, which means it's time to share some of the STUFF!

Honestly, my team this year, chaps...I have no words for our wonderfulness. One team member had some home issues to deal with so ended up having to step out, but other than that, we went at it full pelt. Some of us UK-based team members managed to have a full day together in London to try and achieve as many tasks as poosible that needed more than one person. Something I've learned from GISHWHES (not that it changes the way I live my life) is that 90% of my human contact these days is online, so if I'm asked to get a group of five people together to do something - I'm struggling! And trying to get the big ticket items done when you don't know any one with the right kind of contacts - impossible. The odds are so stacked against folk just trying tweets and emails to stars and their agents - those guys get so many, the chances they'll see ours amongst the dross is infinitessimally small. Didn't stop me trying, mind! (Apologies to the management company for Adele, 5 seconds of Summer etc, to the Gay student society in Dublin and any number of other random folk I contacted to try and get tweets or whatever done!)

If you want to skip all the woffle about my contributions and just want a summary version, our lovely team captain, dean_hugs_sammy, put together a video with highlights.

I know other folk have been recruiting but my team is in need of 2-3 enthusiastic nutters, so if anyone feels like joining in the madness and mayhem, let me know! sigrundora - don't know if you were still interested?

The last one, I promise.
But I wanted to post all my things somewhere together, and this seemed the best place, where the crazy won't confuse family and friends. Too much anyway.

Lots of images under the cut )

Our lovely captain made a wee vid summing up the experience - if any of you have never done it and wondered, have a watch of this.

Dear Flisties
I know many of you will already be signed up but in case any of you are vacillating, and fancy taking part this year, I have a team looking for up to four members - any level of skill or talent is appreciated, enthusiasm and a willingness to make an idiot of oneself is the key!
The team is called SPNFamilyBusiness, and the members are from all over - Australia, UK, USA, Canada, Denmark, Greece, Germany, Austria and Italy.
Just let me know in the comments if you are interested and have any questions!
