Dean Winchester Big Bang

I signed up for both art and writing for the DWBB, which is great, but I have NO idea what I want to write. Especially or mor particularly, what I want to write that hasn't been written before by either me or by someone else (and no doubt better than me).

I've got some WIPs languishing in folders on my laptop, but I'm not sure any of them have enough meat in them to get me to either the 5k or 10k minimums. I've also got a folder full of random ideas (most of which are only really any good for J2s though).

Maybe you chaps can help me decide. Here's what I've got already, either WIPs or just ideas:

1. Sam brings a girlfriend called Fleur back to the bunker. Dean isn't happy about it and thinks there's something off about Fleur, but he can't quite put his finger on what it is that is upsetting him - apart from the obvious - that having Sam banging a girl in their bunker is somewhat disturbing. Then Sam goes missing one night, leaving Dean and Fleur to look for him. There's owls and Celtic myths involved, and I've got 2k of this one written.


2. Dean adopts a stray dog called Angel who can see portals into other worlds and has imaginary friends. Nothing written at all on this one so I'd be starting from scratch with no plot, or anything more than that sentence.


3. Northern Exposure. A season 2 case fic that takes the boys to a remote town in Alaska to tangle with an Innuit witch. This one features some hurt!Dean, because that's what I do. I've got over 5k written but it's been sitting on my hard drive for 5 years so i'll probably have to rewrite it all.


4. Dean, the Queen and the Campervan. Sam & Dean encounter a VW campervan broken down in the desert and Sam volunteers Dean to fix it. Turns out it's owned by a drag queen on her way to (somewhere). I dunno about this one, it's kind of based on a weird dream I had about Dean and the actual Queen of England. Which might be also one way to take this idea.


5. Pretty is as pretty does. Dean is the victim of a spell or potion that makes him irresitibly attractive. It's funny until it isn't. I've got about 800 words written of this one, but no idea where the story should go.

At th moment I'm leaning towards #1 but I honestly don't know!

Oh my god, my vote is definitely for #3. I LOVE NORTHERN EXPOSURE. I mean, the show, but also the potential to reference the show at least once while being in ALASKA, one of the best states in the Union! And hurt!Dean in a remote town in Alaska is just like, all my hopes and dreams basically. And what is Dean's opinion of the salmon burger? (Probably not available in said remote town, but surely they either flew into/drove into a more populated town on their way up--!) But you know I'd read any and all of the above if you're the one behind the wheel. ;)

I admit that #5 seems like the most fun. You can do an AU where everyone is alive and no one is immune to the allure that is Dean. Maybe Bobby would turn the hoe on Dean, complaining about him being a damned idjit for flashing his smile all about town. How dare he smile and hug him, doesn't he realize how dangerous that is?

His dad shooting at feet, while trying to lock Dean away in a bunker.

Sam being so confused as to his attraction to his brother.

The angels popping in and offering to help Dean by taking him to heaven, demons doing the same, but with hell.

Death popping in and offering a final solution. The places it could go are endless. It does not have to end with sex. The people would be happy to sit and stare at the perfection that is Dean.

Oh, maybe Gabriel or Balthazar build the Temple of Dean, complete with a nude statue. XD

I'm not going to be much help because they all sounds awesome to me, but you got me choked up with #2. My family and I always joked that my boy, Angel, who I lost to nasal cancer last summer, could see and travel through portals. Since he was a puppy, he acted like he saw things when there was nothing there, and somehow even though he was a lumbering 140lb Newfoundland who breathed insanely loudly he could still seem to appear out of nowhere when he wanted to be sneaky. So, yeah, I can't not vote for #2 ;)

I like the sound of 1 and 3. But if you've got something started on 3, that might be a good starting point (either with editing or re-writing). But 1 sounds all kinds of interesting too!!!

personally i'd vote for 2, because PUPPY, or 4, because it sounds vaguely like the adventures of priscilla, queen of the desert, which was a fabulous movie altho i could never quite buy hugo weaving as a drag queen, and terence stamp seemed stoned the entire movie. bonus points if you can work in the actual queen of england. :D

but also! i loved northern exposure and think 3 would be great, because a. casefic, and b. i actually liked s2. and c. alaska, which means d. moose. :D but also, it made me think of frost, by zionsstarfish, which i remembered as being set in alaska but is actually set in canada. >.< but it has some really lovely post-s1 dean and sam worrying about him, and a pair of missing kids, and someone handing dean a puppy, at which point he makes a face like a dying goldfish. if you haven't read it i recommend it, and if you have read it, uh, it's set in canada and not alaska, so if you do take option 3, don't worry about cribbing from it.

I love Priscilla! And yep, if I did write that one it would probably be heavily influenced by the movie. I've written drag queens before though, (Winchesters on a case on a cruise involving drag queens and them undercover...) so I'm not sure about revisiting that idea.

The Alaska one is the one I have most written for already, but I dunno... Thanks for the fic rec though, that sounds right up my alley!

That was actually from a dream I had where Sam and Dean bumped into Her Maj broken down in the desert and Sam volunteered Dean to be her personal mechanic for the duration of her trip. Sadly the dream didn't take me any further, which was disappointing because I was finding Dean's reaction very amusing.
