[personal profile] minoanmiss sent me a homemade envelope with two sticker sheets of lovely happy dancing ladies, which I've been finding homes for on my growing collection of watercolour tins. Since I just filled up this tin with a variety of fabulous handmade watercolours from different talented paint-makers on Etsy, here's a couple of photos.

Two of the stickers on this tin - thank you so much, [personal profile] minoanmiss !

And here's a swatch page in my Etchr sketchbook with most of the pans sampled. I'm really loving the heavy granulation of some of these.

Time flies when you get old. That's my excuse for not posting this earlier in the week, anyway. So a big thank you for all the lovely birthday messages [livejournal.com profile] tyrsibs, [livejournal.com profile] meus_venator, [livejournal.com profile] stripytights, [livejournal.com profile] zara_zee, [livejournal.com profile] chellexxx, [livejournal.com profile] kazluvsbooks, [livejournal.com profile] finchandsparrow, [livejournal.com profile] kalliel, [livejournal.com profile] fanspired, jdl71, [livejournal.com profile] tsuki_no_bara, v-gifts ([livejournal.com profile] de_nugis ❤️), my Saloon friends, and to my Huntergirls who made me a photobook full of pics of our exploits at cons and elsewhere, and heartwarming messages.

A while ago the talented [livejournal.com profile] herminekurotowa made me a fabulous Supernatural dress, and refused to let me pay her for her mad seamstress skills. So I said I'd have to make her something instead.
I've been a long time getting this finished, but here's Dean Winchester in watercolour for her to play with.

Petal, I hope you like it!

A huge thank you to eveyone for your kind words and virtual hugs yesterday, here and on Facebook. I appreciate every one of you.

I got home to three parcels - Paul had messaged me while I was away with a plaintive "are you ever going to stop shopping?", so I knew I had stuff waiting, but one of the parcels was a lovely surprise from kalliel! Woot! Which also meant I could pretend the fake fish I ordered for a JIB photo op which arrived too late to take could be passed off as part of the parcel. Sorry about that, kalliel, but I really didn't want to go into the whole explanation of Salmon!Dean and get another eye-roll. you should have seen his face when he saw the inflatable grenade launcher pic and the giant doughnut... ha ha ha!

So THANK YOU, my sweet kind friend. The wee shark is very cute, and I am very excited to try out those embossing pens!

2017 from Mika (Kalliel)
And this was certainly more exciting than my Posca pens which was the other parcel. Now I have a year to decide whether to take the fish (which is not a salmon and would have to be disguised) to JIB9...

I got a surprise package today - a lovely SPN necklace from milly_gal! Thanks me dear, I was well jingly all day wearing all my bling! Excuse the messy hair, and I'm rubbish at selfies too. Ha ha!

Now I really must make the effort to get to the post office and get your (very late) birthday present sent.

There's a few of you ole ex-Colonials on my Flist so here's a little fun SPN thanksgiving gift to y'all.

Poor Dean, perhaps this was the wrong day to get bewitched?

And in the spirit of thankfulness generally - thanks to everyone on my Flist for being such a great bunch of peeps.

Just wanted to say a big thank you for all the well wishes on my post about my friend Rachel. I will pass them on, as she's having the operation to remove the tumour on 31st October. Radiotherapy follows, five days a week for who knows how long. I hope this will not be too debilitating for her...

I'm going to pop over to see her the Saturday before the op, when I'm up in Birmingham for Asylum 17. I'll miss a day of the con but who cares. The timing is good because Liverpool is only 2 hours from Brum on the train so it makes it much easier to get over there without it looking like I'm making a big thing of it.

On a happier note, did y'all see this amazingly romantic and geeky present a hubby made for his Potterphile wife? Awesome attention to detail and so thoughtful!

The other day I had a little moan and whinge about stuff  (Here).

One thing my little moment of childish weakness has taught me is that it's kind of shocking how many of us feel the same way!  To quote/paraphrase kalliel, it seems that whole "why does everyone seems to be better friends with each other than they are with me? :( Or like, man, I wish people did X or Y thing, or felt moved to email me/message me/etc. the way they do with their other friends..." is a common niggle for a lot of us. Maybe it's a trait of an introverted personality? Because I know many of us are here on LJ or online because we have introvert tendencies.

But when I post that rather inarticulate grumble what happens? Everyone rallies round to show me just how silly I was being.
I wonder whether we are all doomed to want to be closer to the people who are busy being close to someone else, just to be contrary. I do remember feeling exactly this way when I was at school too, and I'd love to know why the hell I never grew out of it!
And if I'm honest, I couldn't cope if loads of people suddenly decided to email me about stuff, I just wouldn't have time to deal with it! I have enough trouble as it is, trying to keep up with all the different communities and people on my Flist, and my other friends and family on Facebook and in real life. I wasn't made for having lots of friends, I'm used to having two or three at the most, and this (ok it's mostly virtual) is the largest group of friends I've ever had!
So really, I'm very grateful for each and every one of you. People here are so accepting and generous.

I'll apologise in advance if I ever miss a personal post of yours, but I do have an open door for PMs here if anyone does want to chat about stuff. I'm just hoping you won't all feel the need to message me at once LOL!

As I was posting for JJ's birthday, I suddenly  realised I'm a complete tosspot because I never did the post I thought I'd done to say THANK YOU to everyone who sent me pressies and messages on my birthday. How rude am I?

So VERY belatedly - so much love to everyone who wished me happy birthday. You honestly made my day.

Thank you for posting messages here and on Facebook
Thank you for the home-made adorable card sillie82
Thank you for the virtual gifts - sw0rdy de_nugis fairyniamh

I did actually make a list of who'd sent what, but of course, because I've left it so long, I've lost the bloody thing. But believe me, the love was much appreciated, every single bit of it. I'll blame my age for my forgetfulness...
AND AND TODAY zara_zee posted this birthday timestamp to her fab Jensen's Choice fic, just for me and it is totally badass and awesome!

Here, by way of an apology, have a laugh at this photo I manipped for my generous-hearted friend Dave, who also has a birthday today.

Just to thank everyone for the well wishes - all that positive thinking may have worked, as we have managed to find a care home really quickly, plus it's only ten minutes walk away from the town centre, which means both Paul and his brother can get there really easily for visiting. The manager seems to have all the right ideas about making the place a home for the residents while still providing the right level of nursing care for those that need it, rather than the clinic approach some places have where the place feels more like a hospital than somewhere to live. The room is small but the view from the window was nice - it overlooks the garden which has a hill with a zigzag path, a rowing boat and a brightly painted beach hut which sounds a bit weird but it makes something interesting to look at. Plus there are bird feeders out there too so there should be thnigs to look at.

It's probably as good a solution as we were going to find, so when the hospital chuck MIL out, she now has somewhere to go that can cater for someone with virtually no mobility and who can't speak. I'm really looking forward to settling her into a routine so Paul can start to unwind a bit - he's so tense at the moment and so tired all the time he's almost as short tempered as me!

Anyway, thanks everyone!

I got a bunch more cards today from all over the world, which is very happy-making. However, I know I omitted to send some of you cards because I cocked up my list this year - so I'll lead with a global apology for that! In the meantime, big thank yous are owed to alexisjane for the wee doggie and the upcycled leather danglie, blackrabbit42 for the pointless joy and adorable flying picture.

It's getting towards the year's end and this video sums up pointless #SPNFamily joy in an awesome fashion, so I'm going to wallow in the fun for a while - hope y'all enjoy it too!

Many happies to the Bag Lady (ha ha!) herminekurotowa, here's a little Jensen as a thank you gift!

Yesterday I got to meet the lovely chomaisky in person in London - how awesome is that? Even better, we are meeting up again on Thursday when cho is coming to mine to sample the delights of my little town. So clearly my cunning plan to bore her to death by taking her round the Magna Carta exhibition in the British Library didn't faze her at all.

It's a funny old world, ain't it? Thanks to Supernatural, last year I met a totally charming chap called Dave (aka Dave Padacockles on Facebook). Dave is a classical cellist, and has his own string quartet, who play at weddings and suchlike - and Dave came all the way from Manchester, where he's based, to play at my Dad's funeral - for free - which was just so lovely of him, it still brings tears to my eyes.

So anyway, his Mum got re-married yesterday (coincidentally it turned out Dave's home town is where I live now), and his quartet had a recital this afternoon in a village hall just over the river from us. So of course I had to go - it was the least I could do after Dave's unsolicited kindness (a Jared photo op at A14 was a small token thank you!).

So we just had an afternoon of culture - Mozart, followed by Frank Bridge, tea and home made cake in the interval, then Schubert's quintet to finish. (And before you ask, yes, he'd brought along an additional cellist to make up the five!)

Anyhow, for anyone interested, here's my friend Dave's quartet playing the Londonderry Air. I admit, it brought a tear to my eye too.

Thank you, thank you everyone who's sent me birthday wishes today - i've been swamped in the lurve, and it's a beautiful thing. My LJ inbox was chocker, I had tweets, and Facebook goodies, and virtual gifts, and song spams and gifspams and all sorts of lushness and I am very grateful. Hopefully I have thanked each and every one of you individually, but in case I have not - THANK YOU!

I woke up this morning and could have made you a list of things NOT to do on your birthday - like

  • having a sniffle in the bathroom because you are missing your Dad, and then

  • weigh yourself on your Mum's bathroom scales and find you are two (yes TWO) stone heavier than you thought you were. (For you Americans, that's 28 pounds btw)

  • or end up waiting in most of the morning because the register office is incompetent and has mislaid your father's death certificates that are needed to finalise various financial affairs and they are supposed to be ringing you back...

So the stuff that y'all sent me was indeed a very cheering thing, as was the delicious mushroom pizza I had for lunch, and the big bar of Aero I scoffed this afternoon in definace of the bathroom scales' message of doom.

Tomorrow I return home and hope to be able to stay for longer than a couple of days this time. I need to have some down time so I can catch up on everything!

First off, I'm sorry I haven't responded individually to all your kind and supportive comments yesterday, I did read every one of them and am grateful for all of them. A couple of people have asked if I mind prayers amongst the good wishes and of course I don't mind. All forms of postive thoughts are very welcome. Thank you all very much.

As some of you know, my Dad had a haemorrhagic stroke yesterday and is in hospital. I'm travelling up to see him and my Mum today. I don't have enough information to know whether I should be hopeful or sad yet - Mum said she thought his condition improved as the day went on, but earlier in the day she'd been told it didn't look good.

Anyhow, I just wanted to thank everyone for your good wishes yesterday. Keep the positive vibes going, I think he will need all of them.
