Thank you Flisties

Just wanted to say a big thank you for all the well wishes on my post about my friend Rachel. I will pass them on, as she's having the operation to remove the tumour on 31st October. Radiotherapy follows, five days a week for who knows how long. I hope this will not be too debilitating for her...
I'm going to pop over to see her the Saturday before the op, when I'm up in Birmingham for Asylum 17. I'll miss a day of the con but who cares. The timing is good because Liverpool is only 2 hours from Brum on the train so it makes it much easier to get over there without it looking like I'm making a big thing of it.
On a happier note, did y'all see this amazingly romantic and geeky present a hubby made for his Potterphile wife? Awesome attention to detail and so thoughtful!

Date: 2016-10-20 09:33 am (UTC)Things that will help her during the road of recovery (because nausea is a common side effect.) ANYTHING Ginger. (Goes to search post I made to help friend who went through Chemo last year.) Ginger truly helped my friend through her ordeal. That and having friends (even online friends) that she could talk to also helped.
Hard candy was her friend on the days she received treatment, because the chemo left her so sick she could not handle water. So the hard candy at least help her throat wet enough during her waking hours.
There are communities on FB she can join to get support from people who have been there or are in the process of going through treatment.

Love that sweet gift. :)
As you stand with your friend, remember to take care of yourself as well. If you want I can ask my f-list for tips and tricks. I have a few who have beaten different cancers.
