Jensen's Choice - meanttobe art masterpost

I struck gold with both my spn_meanttobe fics this year, and here's the first of the two, zara_zee's awesome biker fic, Jensen's Choice. LINKY to STORY!

Due to poor planning on my part, and overloading myself, I ended up with just two main pieces which I then cannibalised into a set.
NB NSFW!

This first one is a scene relatively early on in the story, and was just such a sexy image, I couldn't resist attempting it.

The process:
I started with the Hellspawn logo. The cog-like wheel in behind the hell hound is actually a custom Harley wheel insert. It's all done in PS and hand lettered.
Then I found this statue, which made the perfect reference for Jensen in the sex scene.

For some reason, I thought I'd sketch it out in biro. The first version worked well but I'd used lined paper because it was only supposed to be a rough sketch, so I had to try again. As you can see, though I tried to photoshop the lines out, they still show up on the body. Though I actually like this version better, it's rawer and more dynamic.


This is the second version and the one that I used, colouring it in PS apart from the tattoos, which were done in coloured pencil on the biro sketch.
What else? Oh yeah, I used references for both the boys faces, and for the bike (of course! I'm not going to attempt drawing a motorbike without a reference LOL!). And I had to create that pool ball using a plain white one and various overlays because I couldn't find a reference that was exactly right when I did an image search. The things we do for our art, huh?

I actually love the second bedroom sketch you did. You're right: the first one is more raw and intense, but the second has greater depth and tactility even before you coloured it. You feel the muscles straining in that one.

So much to love here! Your artwork of Jensen based on the statue* is so beautiful and sensual; the tattoos just add to the beauty and I can imagine Jensen's gorgeous shoulders looking exactly like this! I love Jensen and Jared on the bike too, I'm a sucker for his green eyes and freckles! Jared's profile is perfect, too. I'll be reading this later!
