amberdreams | Summer storm

I had this idea in mind for spn_heatwave, and had got as far as an outline sketch, but totally failed to meet the deadline. But I was procrastinating over doing other things today and ended up finishing this instead. The idea came from a prompt by madebyme_x which asked for getting caught in a summer storm with rain and lightning.

So happy summer, folks!

dancing_adrift reminded me I totally forgot them in my earlier version! LOL

Process for anyone interested:
All done in PS, using lots of different references. I google image searched for ideas for people caught in the rain and this pose is a combination of several ideas, because nothing I found was really suitable. And yeah, I know their anatomy isn't great, I really need to practice more.

Starting to colour

Found a cool photo of a lightning storm and fiddled with it, because I'm impatient and like to see how the final pic's going to look before I've finished one bit properly.

Then added another lightning storm pic and merged the two using the overlay effect

After that, the shirt/towel over their heads and their swimming trunks got filled in, and I used a black and white photo of rain screened for the rain effect, and added some splashes and drips, et voila! Done.
