That Love a Letter meme....
Feb. 14th, 2015 04:10 pm
zara_zee gave me the letter K - which ain't very loving at all! LOL And
ephermeralk gave me G, so I'm doing both at once to confuse everyone.Something I hate:
K = Karl Adolf Eichmann, Kale (and most things cabbage related, like sprouts...), kippers (pooh! the smell alone!)
G = believe it or not - excessive gore, men who grope, griping
Something I love:
K = The idea of kinaesthesia, kindness, Kahlil Gibran, King Arthur, kaleidoscopes, the saying 'kit and caboodle', kiwi fruit
G = the colour green, SPN's version of Gabriel, Gandalf,
gretazreta's ficsSomewhere I've been:
K = Kent, Kelowna, Kendal, Kirby, Knightsbridge, Kesgrave, Keswick, West Kennett, Kings Cross, Knotty Ash, Kilarney...
G = Germany, Greece, Gateshead, Galgate, Garston, Galaway, Glastonbury... I've been through Gobowen too.
Somewhere I'd like to go:
K = Kimbolton, Kenilworth, County Kerry, Knock (both of them!)
G = Greenland, Gamble's Green (because - SPN connection of course!), Gibraltar, Gelsenkirchen (because it has to be said with a Scouse accent)
Someone I know:
K =
kalliel,
katwoman76, G =
gaelicspirit,
galwithglasses,
geckoholic...A film I liked:
K = King of Hearts, Kingdom of Heaven, Kingsman, Kinky Boots
G = Galaxy Quest, Gallipoli (oh my heart...), The Graduate, Gone with the Wind
If you want a letter, just ask!

dear_tiger,
ephermeralk and
cassiopeia7. Go to the closest book to you. Turn to page 206. The first sentence explains your love life.My love life came out (from 3 books closest to me) as:
"Her too?"
"I've not got any gypsy clothes," he said, "but p'raps they'd give me some."
I thought about my time up at Haworth when I was a small girl.
If anyone wants to interpret this explanation of my love life, feel free because I am clueless...!
The lines are from, respectively - Alan Garner's Boneland (which doesn't run to 206 pages so I went for the last even numbered page), Richmal Crompton's William The Fourth, and Jasper Fforde's The Eyre Affair.

quickreaver, because I should be doing all manner of other things including tidying the house for sister -in-law's visit on Thursday. As I'm off to the parents next week for a Folk Festival/holiday thing, I can't guarantee I'll finish everything that's suggested, but I'll tackle at least the first ten responders. I'll either drabble, ficlet or maybe even sketch.
It will all be SPN related.
CLOSED FOR PROMPTING NOW TA!
LJ posting day - random post
Jul. 8th, 2014 10:37 pmAnd as an aside, here's what i've been doing the last couple of days - meeting up with online and non-online friends and family and having a lovely time.

This is two friends from the Chicago area, visiting the Black Country museum with another friend who we 'met' via Facebook, plus my parents. My Mum has been chatting with one of the Americans and the Black Country boy online and this was their first meeting face to face. I'm taking the photo. Isn't the internet wonderful?
The Meme:
1) Post a list of up to 20 books/movies/anime/TV shows/video games/bands that you've had an obsessive fannish love or interest in at some time in your life
2) Have your f-list guess your favourite characters/members from each item.
3) When someone guesses correctly (LOL, good luck with that), strike through the item and put the name of your favorite character next to it.
TV

Star Trek (all incarnations apart from Enterprise)
Alias Smith and Jones
Sherlock
Robin of Sherwood

Films

Books

JIBCon Junkies in withdrawal
Jun. 17th, 2014 07:43 pm
dizzojay, should have a pass of some description, as Daniela mentioned last night that some folk who emailed in the second batch (we were first batch emailers) not only have passes but have Demon passes. My money is now on us having secured our Angel passes, but I can't be 100% certain, and then there is the whole thing about where will we be sitting? So to pass the time I created this. CLICK on the pic to go to Redbubble
and loaded it onto Redbubble as t shirt, tote bag, phone cover etc. Daniela likes it! Woo hoo! I think I'm going to get myself a tote bag. Because I really AM a JIBcon junkie! I did a non JIB version as well, just because.
Writing meme
Jun. 17th, 2014 04:01 pmThere's this author game going around called 7/77, where we are supposed to post 7 sentences from page 77 (or page 7 if you aren't that far in) of your current WIP. Rather than spend all day tagging all the authors I know, I'll just say: If you see this, DO IT!
So I originally thought I'd have to go to my novel for something with 77 pages, but then realised that wasn't strictly speaking a WIP as it's finished though in dire need of editing. So I moved to it's sequel, which has been abandonned in an incomplete state for quite some time, but has a considerable number of pages and is definitely a WIP (though the progress part is debatable!).
I've kind of guessed where page 77 might be as the chapters are all saved in separate word documents. Here's my 7 sentences
He lay still and relaxed, keeping his breathing soft and even. Jake had always been adept at fooling Nathan and his father into believing he was soundly asleep, where Nathan had never mastered the art, always giving himself away with small tells – changes in his breathing, involuntary tensing of muscles. Jake knew this was the only way to keep himself safe from the interrogation he knew was awaiting him on waking, though he was well aware that feigning unconsciousness was not a permanent solution. He would have to face his brother eventually. He couldn’t hide forever, and, he realised with a small sense of surprise, he was done with running away.
The trouble was, Nathan’s presence was burning Jake in so many ways. He was ashamed on so many counts, and was reluctant to face any of them.
Now run away and play!

Don't worry, I'm not fishing for compliments or cheerleading. Being average is what I'm used to after all, I'll settle back into it again tomorrow and be perfectly happy.
Writer's Meme - wanna play?
Feb. 25th, 2014 08:53 pm
soncnica posted this meme, and as I've asked her a question, that means I have to answer the same one myself. Here's the meme if you want to join in, and I'll put my answer to
soncnica's question at the end of the list!RULES: Put a number in the comments and I’ll answer. AND to make this more interesting, you give me a number, I answer and you have to answer back with an answer to the same number you gave me! :) Don't be shy!
1. Of the fic you’ve written, of which are you most proud?
2. Favorite tense
3. Favorite POV
4. What are some themes you love writing about?
5. What inspires you to write?
6. Thoughts on critique
7. Create a character on the spot... NOW!
8. Is there a character you love writing for the most? The least? Why?
9. A passage from a WIP (if you chose this, can you give me like what WIP you'd like!? J2, J2 gen, J2 AU, J2 gen AU, Sam/Dean, SPN gen, AU ... you see where this is going, right?)
10. What are your strengths in writing?
11. What are your weaknesses in writing?
12. Anything else that you want to know... (otherwise known as Fill in the Blank)
I gave
soncnica #1. Of the fic you’ve written, of which are you most proud?then I wished I'd chosen something different! Never mind eh. I don't think I'm proud of anything I've written exactly - I have fics I like a lot, and ones I'm definitely NOT proud of, but the ones I like best seem to be ones nobody else does! LOL
Just picking at random - I'll go for my WWII RPF AU Had we but world enough and time. I worked hard on that one, did lots of research and had some very lovely folk help out with Polish and Danish phrases. And some of the story was based on a real life Danish pilot whose story I'd love to know more about, which made the fic seem more valid, somehow.

An Embarrassment of Angels
***********
Drabble: word count 100
10 – 10 Challenge
Warnings: Nekkid Dean, wet Castiel.
Summary: Velcro verse continued. Dean is cursed by the goddess Frigg and has become human Velcro. It continues to cause embarrassing moments of much stickiness.
***********
Of course Sam would call Cas for help. And of course Cas would turn up at the most inconvenient time, getting right up into Dean's personal space. Which, you know, has consequences these days.
Dean’s discovered he's largely safe from sticking to things when wet, provided the surfaces he touches are smooth. So showering should have been a Velcro-free experience - except clueless Castiel appears right inside the spray, causing a shocked, slippery Dean to lunge right into trench-coated arms.
So yeah.
Finding Very Naked Brother firmly attached to Bemused Angel is going to give Sam teasing fodder for decades.
