My second Time travel bang, this time with the lovely Masoena. The moment I saw the prompt included travel to ancient Egypt, I had to snaffle it!!

This next scene could be a little spoilery, but only if I tell you what's happening - otherwise, hopefully it's a big fat teaser to tempt you to read the fic!



Rambly process part
All the pieces are done with traditional media, though the text was added using photoshop on the banner.

This one is in one of my sketchbooks, using a page I'd painted with an acrylic gesso ages ago and hadn't known what to use it for. Suddenly there was the perfect background for my Egyptian scene. I painted the pyramids and buildings, etc, with gouache, which layered nicely on the gesso.
I then devised the fic title using real Egyptian pictograms (though obviously not their original meanings).

I drew them on a nice white page and watercoloured them. The white background meant I could then more easily isolate the words and add them as an overlay to the other scene. Bam, done.


Then I had to decide what else I was going to to, and fixed on this scene between Sam and Castiel - lovely imagery in Masoena's words, hopefully you'll agree.

I then sat around for a month or some such, somehow having convinced myself I'd finished, only to realise I hadn't actually done the proper painting! So the final Sam and Cas watercolour was actually all done in a day. Maybe I should do that all the time because I actually quite like how it's turned out. Still a big facepalm moment though LOL
