I was so lucky with my authors again this year! So happy zubeneschamali chose this prompt, and came up with a fab story idea I wouldn't have thought of.

I could ramble on about the frankenreference I cobbled together but I won't. Though I can share this, which was an early manip I did of lighthouse keeper Jensen, while deciding on poses etc.

You could very much ramble on about making frankenreferences if you wanted to! I’d be fascinated to know your methods! 😁 but I love that you you showed us the inspiration manip you made. Jensen makes an awesome lighthouse keeper 🙌🏼😄 and I love the gothic/regency (?) feel of the lighthouse. (I’m not sure I got that time period right but regardless the architecture is so striking 🙌🏼😄)
And I absolutely adore that prompt you made. Washed up Jared is soooo beautiful 🥰🥰 and Jensen looks strong and stoic and salt-of-the-earth. And that sky 😍 I love the dark turbulent clouds and the wild slash of orange like the sky is on fire. Such a gorgeous piece so full of atmosphere 🤗 massive kudos!

I did a search for interesting US lighthouses and that one caught my fancy — but of course I can't remember the details now. I'll have to have a look in my folder to see if I noted the location. I'm pretty sure it was early 1800s.

Basically for this one I cobbled together a pose model for Jensen using PoseMe on the iPad, a photo of a male model on a beach for Jared's body position, made up the rocks and sky (mostly) and used photo ref for the lighthouse. I usually like to put the composition together in a single digital ref to make sure it works. So this time I ended up with this:

And I haven’t used PoseMe before! I have one called MagicPoser but I will go have a look and see if PoseMe is better 😄👍🏻

Aw thanks so much! I struggled with Jensen's face (being so small too, when I painted him I lost what little likeness I had) so i'm happy at least Jared looks a bit like Jared! 😂

They both look like them!! I can't imagine getting ANY likeness to stay through trad art layers, somehow the color always kills the pencil for me?? (Not to mention all the erasure marks and pencil divots and grooves to get any likeness to come out in the first place after I corral whichever eye is wayward from too close to the forehead or whatever, LOL!) But Jared is just exceptionally striking 💕

That's true — but I do now have a big magnifying glass light thingy which I can deploy when working on small stuff so in future I'll have to remember and make use of it more.

hee, frankenreference. and i love the pic! the clouds are amazing, and i love how jensen is kind of looking out to sea, but not down where jared's all drowned and lovely.... also i'm a sucker for a lighthouse. :D

Lighthouses for the win! I did have a fic started with Jensen as a lighthouse keeper but sadly my writing has fallen into a black hole so I doubt it will ever get done.
