This week fell at a bad time for me, as I was going away from the Thursday, plus two members of our already reduced team of nine ended up not taking part, while a third was not feeling it... I somehow doubt our team will take part again (at least not together in the same format). One invisible person added herself to our team early on then never replied to any emails (which is the only contact route GISH gave) so we have no idea who she was!

However, looking back at what I did, it wasn't too bad. I had said this year I was only going to do challenges I really fancied, and that I was going to try and make them as good as I possibily could. I don't think I quite managed that, but it was a moderate amount of fun! And my active team mates did some fricking awesome stuff, so there is that.

Anyhow, here is a glimpse of my (part) week.

#121 SIDE-BY-SIDE. You know those garden gnomes that dotted your grandmother’s backyard? Well, it’s been a while and now they have fallen on hard times. They have turned to a life of crime and misanthropy. Their little gnome hearts are filled with despair, hatred, and regret. Show us the before and after.

When gnomes go bad...things get very dark, very quick.

#95 Tatsuya Tanaka creates miniature worlds with everyday objects. His scenes are whimsical, which is how the world should be... but is not always how tiny-world actually is. Create a miniature, dismal and tragic scene using small reimagined objects.
I had two attempts at this one, wasn't happy with either of them.
Avalanche (not submitted)

and deforestation (which was the one I put in)

I was really disappointed with how the broccoli looked but didn't have time to make something better.

#68 I’m not saying Jared Padalecki is a big softie, but here’s a portrait of him toasted onto a marshmallow. Just the way it should be.
This was harder than I expected! I have a pyrography set and used that, but it's difficult to get the marshmallow to actually singe.

#78 The Enterprise wasn’t the only vehicle in the not-so-final frontier. Show us Star Trek covered wagons. Tweet your image to @WilliamShatner with the message “Admit it, Bill. This is how you really voyaged.” You may use Photoshop for this item.
This ended up a bit boring and literal - I wish I'd done something else...
2019 GISH
Our team grid as pokemon cards. A friend in Iceland added captions later.

#55 TRIPTYCH. Dawid Planeta illustrates his depression as mysterious creatures. In a 3-panel illustration, show your biggest fear or struggle as a symbolic creature with which you gradually come to terms. Label it so we know what your creature represents.
2019 GISH
Again something I wish I'd been more imaginative about. But the drawing is decent enough, and I like the lion.

#207 Put your friend on display as a human statue at your local art museum. You may use props. Include a didactic card explaining the piece and its significance as a true work of art as well as an Artist's Statement.
2019 GISH
Heh heh - the Mansion staff were very amused by our antics.

My last item is the one I did first - a time lapse video.
TIMELAPSE. The LGBTQIA community struggles a lot with erasure. Make sure everyone feels seen: create a portrait of an iconic LGBTQIA person by first filling up a page with a rainbow of colored pencils or pastels, then use an eraser to lift out the negative space, leaving the colored portrait behind.
I thought this turned out ok but will probably change my mind when I see the wonderful creations by other teams. Damn you, Impostor Syndrome!

This is probably my fave item by our team this year - baking Jensen into a Skittles pie, done by Nic. She's always sooooo good at the really creative, crafty items and this year was no exception.

Those are fantastic. I am waiting with great anticipation for the highlights from a friend's team. They've been runners-up for many years, but haven't yet grasped that brass ring.

My team has never been anywhere near winning! Ha ha! If you remember when your friend's team posts, link me, I'd love to see their stuff too. :D

I agree! I felt down about it mid week but that was partly because I wanted to do so much more and going away put the kybosh on that. I loved your workman Harry Potter!
