Gish Vids - my stuff

I thought I'd put my other vidded tasks in this post.
Task: Time-lapse this submission to 30 seconds or less. Paint a Bob Ross painting. We must see both the painter replicating
the Bob Ross painting and the playback of the Bob Ross video the painter is replicating. You must paint in real-time
while he is painting. The video should end with a side-by-side comparison of your masterpiece and Bob Ross’s.
This painting thing actually turned out a lot better than I thought when I started painting! Especially as I'd thought I'd get away with using acrylics instead of oils, which didn't work very well at all, plus I hadn't watched Bob's video properly so didn't realise he'd used contact paper to make the edges nice and tidy.
One thing about GISHWHES - I don't like to spend too much money on it, I think a) that defeats the object, which is to raise money for Random Acts and b) Gishing should be something inclusive, and not reliant on having funds in your bank account. So I bought some cheap paint, used paintbrushes we already had (which were actually horrible! LOL) and the canvas is so small because it was only £4 in Tiger. Oh and yes, my palette is an old frying pan!
This next one is one of my fave items, I am SO chuffed about this!
Task: This video may be up to 20-seconds. Everyone knows how important specific diets are in developing a chiseled
physique. Find a bona fide, professional, competitive bodybuilder or ultimate fighter in peak condition and have them
create a 20-second infomercial touting the muscle-building, fat-burning, nutrient-loaded virtues of aerosol spray cheese
(like Cheeze Whiz). We must hear the athlete’s name, credentials and see their glistening, oiled, body as they “sell” us
(however they best can do that) on the benefits and delicious taste of the aerosol spray cheese. This should probably
include ravenously squirting the cheese directly into their mouth. Bonus points if you get a former World Champion.
Before the vid, I have to tell you the story. When we got the dates for Gishweek, I realised it clashed with the London Film and Comic Convention. So I immediately thought - hey, lots of geeky people in cosplay, awesome! Maybe we can get people queuing outside to do stuff for us. So nearer the time a few of us Brit-based folk decided we'd meet there, and see what happened. In the meantime, I'd noticed the guest list included some wrestlers, not really thinking any more about it, until we got the list on Saturday afternoon, then I thought maybe we could ask one of them...
When we arrived we found that the queues were being managed better than last time, so there was hardly anyone outside (though we did get one task filled while we were out there, and I'll post that one tomorrow). We decided we all quite fancied going into the con anyway, especially
theymp's two kids! So we waited until after 12 for the reduced price tickets and ventured in.
I thought we could maybe ask one of the wrestlers to to this cheese infomercial, but when we first went to their signing desks, they weren't there, and the minders said we'd have to ask their manager. So we went away, mugged Captain America to do a bit of cleaning, ogled some Dr Whos, and got some photos done.
We arrived back at the wrestlers signing area and hung around as one or two of them came back and started signing for their queues of fans. Then Colt Cabana turned up, and we were effectively his queue. For some reason, none of the fans was ready for him yet. I grinned at him, not wanting him to feel he was unloved, and explained we wanted to ask a favour, but we'd been told we have to wait for his manager. He asked what the favour was so I explained and bam! he was all over it! If I posted the whole vid I took you'd hear me laughing because he killed it. I was so flustered and nervous, I totally forgot to ask him to say who he was etc, but he did it anyway! What a star. LOL
Anyhow, I love this because I had the nerve to ask him, and because he was just such a great sport about it! Plus, I'd never have had the nerve without my lovely team members supporting me - so thanks be to
dizzojay,
xlittleangx,
theymp, Lily and Toby!
