Progress on my Jared painting

I think... I think maybe it's nearly done. Thanks to some helpful advice from my art heroes marietwist and quickreaver, and even though most of what they told me is beyond my competence at the moment (or at least, beyond my abilities on this particular painting) I think it is now looking reasonable. I am starting to think I would not be too ashamed to hand this over to the man himself at whichever of the two conventions I decide to give it to him.

If anyone else knows anything about using acrylic paint and has any hints or tips to improve it, please let me know! Otherwise all that's left to do is a second coat on the gold background (which doesn't show up on the photo), and then touching up where I've gone over edges etc to tidy it all up.



I think adding words would be too much, so I'll just have to write them down for Jared and put them with the picture.

I think you're right, you don't need text on the painting, I think it's self explanatory (but you could say a few words to him about it!)

When I think about it I have Bobby's speech in my head about raising two boys and they grew up great. They grew up heroes.

hee hee I am leaning towards Birmingham because it's easier for me to transport it there than to Rome. Though I'm concerned that it makes it harder for Jared to keep it, should he want to.

That's a great point! Maybe you could tease him with the idea in Birmingham, and then give him the end product in Rome?

I don't think it needs text on it, honestly I don't, it speaks volumes as is and I think Jared will get it, instantly.
