Sketchbooking class was fun last night though I'm not sure I ended up with the kind of page I was supposed to - well it didn't look much like anyone else's, any way. But I enjoyed myself.
The idea was to explore how a page could provide future inspiration and also to look at fitting a number of different unconnected images onto the page. Steve brought this box of miscellaneous oddments again, and some pcitures from magazines, and I ended up with the wee vase, a fox and a lacrosse match. When I'd finished with those three, I got another couple of pics to fill the spaces, and then we ran out of time.
1st November sketchbook class

Before that, there was Asylum 17 - sadly minus milly_gal and jj1564, but in the good company of dizzojay, chellexxx, andiivalo and xlittleangx. With no big name guests, and around 1000 attendees, it was a pleasantly chilled affair. When JDM was announced,I'd bought an upgrade which included all the photo ops, but of course, he cancelled. So that left me with a load of photos ops that I didn't really want that badly, so I gave some away. Then me and Ang shared because it was more fun that way, and had doubles and triples instead of the singles I had tickets for, so these are the ones I ended up with.
The magnificent Lisa Berry - what a stunning looker and so enthusiastic about the whole convention experience. She's going to be a great addition to the convention circuit so I hope she gets invited to loads now.

We bought coffee lounges with her and then they merged the lounge with Jessica Heafy's, so we had bonus Gwen Campbell. Jessica was lovely too, they are two intelligent and awesome ladies.
As Corin was there, we had to have a badass Campbell picture - Corin told me when I got his auto that he was standing on tiptoes! LOL
P1410959
Seb was there, and his photo was first thing on Saturday. I hadn't found anyone to hand my photo to, so I went for it - this is him pretending to rip his shirt open for me. His panel was actually fun - not headache inducing at all. He did sing, dance and was lewd - but he also spoke Spanish, did a couple of Shakespearian speeches and wasn't totally crass. It was all funny rather than cringe-worthy, which was a relief!
P1410956
Adam Rose was master of ceremonies, though he didn't seem to do an awful lot on stage, but he was in this trio with the lovely Tyler and Theo, so - bonus. I didn't get Adam's auto because he was an extra, and I've already got it. They were supposed to be photo bombing us...
P1410958
Theo Devaney is a really intelligent guy, he speaks really well and loves stage acting, and I think that shows. Not in the photo! I mean in the panels LOL
DJ's panel was hilarious, I think he took one question in between telling long rambling stories about someone shitting all over his house and telling everyone how much he hates Creation. He thinks they are evil; which is interesting. If I'd had a coffee lounge with him I'd have asked for more detail!
P1410962
Back together again - the Ghostfacers. AJ is SO much more relaxed and happy on stage when Travis is with him, it makes a huge difference. They spent most of their panel touching each other up - AJ has that handlebar moustache and was rubbing it on Travis' neck, so we went for a groping photo op and got this.

So that's it, a whizz-bang quick round up of my last few days. Now I'm home, ith a ton of emails to catch up on and no chance of seeing everything I missed. Hotel wifi really sucks. Never mind.

Ohhh lovely sketches, it sounds like you're really enjoying the classes.

I love all your photo ops!!! So many wonderful peeps, and yes, I hope we see a lot more of Lisa Berry (on Show and in conventions). And really they should bring back Adam Rose too, and hell, why not the everyone else. I love to see old characters come back for more!!!

What fun photos!! And I love your many-things sketch. I think the bright, giant vase in the foreground matched up against the barbed wire fence in the background provides a neat contrast. So cool!

And yet the giant vase fits in my tiny hand - it's a paradox!! LOL

Sorry, meant to add - I love your sketchbook, especially the texture you've got in fox (I'm always drawn to the animal picture.) There's real mischief in his eye!

This was a relatively short bunch of actors - Garth (DJ) was the only tall one, though having said that, Lisa Berry was bending a lot to come down to my height!

Never say never, kinda ;) Maybe next year's winter one. If we gett his house sold then I'm allowed to take £3k for a VIP con experience. I was aiming for Asylum (despite it's new location) and perhaps the Winter one because it's way calmer. What do you think?

As an aside, Steve's allowed himself enough off the top of the sale to either fix the trike or get a new bike :)

When you say VIP do you mean buy a Rogue VIP ticket? They are actually good value because they include your accommodation and food, but I don't think they will have any left for A18 now as they are limited in number.

A19 actually, the next Winter one was what I was aiming at :)

Oh right - well this one only had 2 VIPs so I reckon you'll be ok with that one!

Had a day out in Colchester yesterday, today we went to Sainsbury's and Pound World for our excitement! LOL Though we do have a trip to Stowmarket this evening so see the Oysterband so that's exciting enough for us.

Sounds like a nicely chilled and productive day, plus I love the cheapy shops. We have a 99p store in Southampton that's epic :)

Have fun this evening :)

Glad you had fun! And I agree with DJ...creation sucks (and those are the only cons we can go to here in the states). They overcharge, and squeeze in meet and greets over photos...they tell you to arrive first in line for the photo, then go to the meet and greets. Of course, you might have a higher number than they called for photos and bitch you out until you scream at them that you have a meet and greet (which you end up being late for). And they also don't let the stars go to any other cons in the US except SDCC. Argh!

Huh all those policies suck - thank goodness Creation's arm doesn't reach across the Atlantic! Having been to one Creation con and many European ones, I think both Rogue and JIB do conventions much better. The only thing Creation have that's better than Europe's is the Saturday Night Special and from what Richard and Mark tell us, they had to fight Creation to get that format. Which is a shame because Creation get the credit for what was essentially Richard and Rob's idea.

yeah. i'm sure they had to beg for the saturday night thing. wouldn't surprise me. oh, and the way they do autographs is horrendous. you could be standing in line for over 4 hours... or more.

You're A17 photos are super, you always think of such good poses - Lisa, Corin and DJ look like they are great fun! I'm pleased you all had such a good time, and it must be nice to have it so much less hectic/crowded than A16!

I like your sketchbook page, especially the seagull, lovely :)
