For my spnspiration bingo squares: - Slam poetry and inanimate object POV
I've NEVER done anything like this before!! Well, I've written pomes, of course, but I've never read them and I'd certainly be too effing nervous to stand up and recite in front of people so I wasn't sure what this would come out like.
So without further ado
Here it is - the poem recording which makes this a slam. I think!

Voice Recorder >>

And it you want to read it too

The Bunker
There’s a rhythm in my life, a pulse that beats even though I have no heart, no veins, no blood.
I was alone for a long time, I counted the beats
I counted the stars above me
I counted time passing through my many doors.

I have doors between worlds, I hold worlds inside and outside of me
Keeping worlds in, keeping worlds out.
I hold fast, I hold them shut
I keep this world safe.
I open them when needed, let air in, let air out
I breathe, sometimes.

I'm impressed! I couldn't get the audio to work (iphone) but the written poem is gorgeous. I'm kind of afraid of my card.

Ah well, I needn't be embarrassed about my voice then! LOL
I'm glad you liked the poem... I think those two items might be the easiest squares on my card! I'm going to have to look some of the items up to make sure I know what they are!

that was LOVELY!!!

I enjoyed hearing you read that so much!!! <3

A lovely idea writing a poem from the pov of the Bunker.

Who knows, it is clearly imbued with mystical power, perhaps it is really thinking. It may have long conversations with the Impala when she is in the garage. :D

I can't do the voice recorder on my phone, but damn, just reading it I can hear the beat in my head. I can't wait to get home to my laptop and get the full effect. You are on fire lately, girl. On fire.

I had to write from an inanimate object's pov for a creative writing class. It's a challenge, but you rocked it!

OMG!!!! Well, it's cool enough on it's own, BUT>>>> I accidentally double clicked, opened up two windows and they read in like a round one phrase off from each other, it was the COOLEST THING EVER~~~

also I agree with everyone here, your voice is amazing, why aren't you doing podfic?

I just did it again, you have to do it! It's blowing my mind with how cool it is. I just click to start and then click the vocaroo and it opens up it's own window and starts there too. The end is SO BEAUTIFUL with both voices and then one finishing and then the next so quiet. FUCKING AMAZEBALLS

The poem is stunning--I love it. I also love your voice, it's a lovely pitch, clear pronunciation.

May I make a tiny suggestion, just from my own experience with reading aloud, and slams? Print out the poem, go outside, find someplace you won't feel observed, and read it walking. Don't recite it from memory, read it off the page, because that will distance you from whatever meanings you've already found in the poem. Do it five, ten, twenty times, don't stop walking. Change your pace, faster, slower--I think this needs a deliberate, almost careful pace, but *you* need to hear it at a fast, breathless pace, and several different ones. Change direction at the end of a line, hesitate, then start walking again, experiment. It's amazing what happens when your body, your voice, and the words all work together--sometimes the lines take on even more, or other, meanings, things you didn't even know were in there.

Um. Sorry for the overshare. But movement adds so much to words. Try it, even just for yourself, and see what you think.

Do you do that for podficcing or more for poetry? I would NEVER actually do a poetry slam in real life in front of real people. I have close to a phobia about standing up in front of an audience and doing something that is a performance. I'm ok with leading a workshop or facilitating, but something about a presentation format gives me the heebie jeebies.

That is really awesome. I love the final line, there's something really evocative about it, if that doesn't sound too pretentious.

you have a SUPER voice. have you ever considered doing podfic?

Date: 2014-10-16 09:52 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com
Oh dear... no.... ha ha everyone's saying this - see above LOL
I know Americans have a real thing for Brit accents but to do Podfic you'd have to have some sort of ability re: different tones and voices and that starts getting close to acting ability of which I have NONE....

Hello, I wanted to let you know that your LJ is one that is being stolen from by the person running http://fanfic-journal.com/

Despite multiple people telling them they have no right under CCL or Fair Use to steal our intellectual property, they refuse to stop. Right now, as me and others dig for the proper way to shut them down, we can only warn people they've stolen from and let you know that you can complain, and they seem to be removing entries.

The thing that is dazzlingly clear is, they aren’t going to stop because they refuse to acknowledge that ‘100’ people doesn’t compare to the 1000 on their site. Of course, they’re ignoring that MOST of those people don’t yet know they’ve been stolen from. That’s where me and others come in. We’re trying to spread the word as far and wide as we can and it’s working, but more the better, so if you’re willing, by all means, please share this information.

If you wish to complain you can go here:

http://fanfic-journal.com/complain-here/

Be clear if you do choose to make a complain, because they are slimy. Request they delete all your entries and never copy any more.

If you’d like what information I have available about it, I did post a shareable LJ entry here: http://ladydragon76.livejournal.com/226071.html

If I’ve already commented on another of your stolen posts, or you already know, my apologies, I don’t mean to be a bother, I just want to be sure no one else is victimized further by this thief.

Best wishes, and sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I left you a comment about a thief stealing your entries, but it was marked as spam. I'm thinking that's because of the links. If you want to, head over to my LJ, the viewable entries are all about this situation.

Best wishes!
