I don't know why I wanted to torture myself by going there, but I just felt this scene is so central to everything, it had to be done.

Process as usual - pencil, ink then watercolour. I tried something different with the design of this one, to convey something about the way Sam's visions in the story are so unsettling and unbalance him.
I used a fine brush pen for the inking rather than the more precise fineliners I usually go for.

tilting it is really cool and vaguely disturbing, and the disturbing is not helped by the kind of mottled red around the boys. cree-pee! (i like it! but... creepy.)

I am, though bangs etc are the only times I remember to post nowadays! The fic is good — not utterly tragic it's just even after two years (or is it three years now?) I still find that barn scene a tear jerker!
