Inktober 2017 - Day 9 and other things
Oct. 9th, 2017 09:58 pmI'll start with the random. I feel that bickering Cathedrals on Twitter is somehow a very British thing. Check out all the comments and see what you think!
On to Inktober and Day 9's prompt was Screech. Me and Milly had the same thought on this one - OWLS!

He's a Screech Owl of course, a little wonky, but that's what happens when I wield a paintbrush without sketching it out first. Done in brown and burnt sienna ink, plus a few pigment pens for a touch of the other colours. Oh and I did NOT do that background with the wood and leaves, this is pre-printed craft card.

Date: 2017-10-10 02:29 am (UTC)the arguing cathedrals reminds me of the natural history museum and the science museum in london twitter-fighting over who has better stuff. it's so cute. i'm partial to st paul's (any place that lets you climb inside the roof is pretty fabulous) but i remember salisbury cathedral being pretty impressive.

Date: 2017-10-14 11:12 am (UTC)Actually I have no idea what a pre-printed craft card even is, but I'm curious... Is it all just a print on paper or is it textured? Looks so 3D!

Date: 2017-10-14 12:14 pm (UTC)Yes the card is about a foot square and comes in a pad of different designs with what look like photos printed on each side of each piece of card. I'm not actually sure what they are supposed to be used for (some sort of crafts activity I think), but I have a friend who's a professional artist, and one of her things is painting on top of existing images. It's really effective, so I thought I'd buy this card (it's really cheap) and have a go. They did have blocks with patterns that were more like clipart designs or similar, but this particular pad has mostly wood and composite pictures in browns and dark shades I thought looked interesting.
You can see another one I did on a different background here. https://amberdreams.dreamwidth.org/796082.html
