More bears and other things

Yesterday I had a day off painting to flit off to London to the Heroes and Villains convention (more a mini comic con event than a JIB) where I got a photo op with the lovely John Barrowman, and Katie Cassidy. The poor girl left SPN behind her years ago, but got two SPN hobbits plastered to her slim sides when 99.9% of the other fans were there for Arrow. Never mind!

Here's the glorious Barrowman, flashing his knees for us.

The best part of this con was meeting up with jj1564 and her sister Brenda, as I hadn't seen them for ages.

And we did see three Arrows and a Flash in the cafe... LOL


Today it was back to work on the bear, mainly trying to neaten up the rough edges. I need to add a few more leaves down one side, which is looking a bit empty at the moment, and finish off the eyes, but I think other than that, he's practically finished. Just as well as I have to give him two coats of varnish before the end of the week.
I have to tip him backwards to lean on Paul's chair so I can paint the lower parts!

I'm hoping this yucky con-crud will ease up tomorrow too, as my eyes are getting sore from all the coughing.

Ah but this bear is actually a rainforest, so he has stuff growing everywhere! Well, apart from on his back which has been devastated by deforestation.

Aw, it was lovely to see you, too, it's been too long! That's a lovely group pic, and all the Arrows having a coffee made me laugh!

Your bear is awesome, I really love the colour of the snake, his scales must've taken forever!

Strangely, the scales took a matter of minutes, the underpainting took a lot longer! LOL

Your bear is coming along brilliantly, I love the detail work on him, everywhere you look there's something new to see and wow, the work that's gone into him. I know you work majorly hard on all of these but he's so full of different little things it must have taken an age to just outline, let alone paint in.

I think they should run tests on con going fangirls to see what the con-crud actually is, and of course that would mean having to go to cons prior to testing ;)

Yep this bear's taken longer than I anticipated, but the detail isn't too bad now I've got my marker pens! nearly had a disaster today when one of the markers did a massive dribble down his face but I managed to mop it up (phew!).

Re: the outing, it depends, I suppose. It would have to be accessible (and not just to June) and cheap, and allow us to chat... What kind of outing did you have in mind?

And I had my angry scribbly moments with this bear before I went away, I ended up smearing paint everywhere!

Love how the bear is coming together; the treefrog on its paw is adorable! So many jungly details!


Oh, John Barrowman, love him lots ever since his early days at Live & Kicking:) Thrilled when I got to see him on stage in La Cage aux Folles, he made me laugh and he made me cry <3<3 How awesome that you got him to wave pompoms, I can tell he got a kick out of it. Great photo!
