Broadchurch - no spoilers

Finally caught up with this season so I can now say - how beautifully filmed it was. Was this why ash48 liked it so much, I wonder? Watching the finale, the colours and the lighting of so many scenes, especially the interrogations, was like a Carravagio painting at times. It was visually compelling.

Not so sure about the story - it didn't grip my heart and mind like the first season did, but it was still tense and worth watching.

Anyone on here watch it?

Alec and Ellie have such brilliant chemistry and it's such a huge part of why I LOVE this series soo much. Agree S1 & 2 were stronger than this one, they absolutely devastated me, but the cold almost matter-of-fact way the rapist confessed to his crimes had me softly weeping also. So very sad this will be their last season.

Oh I totally agree - all of the characters are so strongly portrayed, I think that's what keeps us watching, and David Tennant and Olivia Coleman are just magnificent. Plus they both have such wonderful brown eyes - which the lighting highlighted! I hope they find something else that brings those two actors back on screen together.

I did. Each week, and champed at the bit for the next. I found the resolution heartbreaking. Totally heartbreaking. But it was indeed a beautifully crafted/shot show and I liked where they ended it with Ellie and Hardy.

I'm watching it on catch up, I've just finished the first 2 seasons and am up to episode 3 of season 3, I really like the first season but not so much the second one.

Yeah, I had the same problem with Season 2. It wasn't bad but the first season was just so very good, and different, it was a hard act to follow.

I'll be honest - I was really disappointed with Season 2 - the main reason for watching was Tennant and Coleman. If you're short on time, you could skip it and jump straight to Season 3. Which is pretty grim and different from Season 1 in the shape of it (it's more a whodunnit than Season 1) but very good.

So, I saw the last two eps. They've been fast-tracking it here from the UK, and I'd never seen the show before, but I was watching TV one day and it was on, and then I got sucked into the story. And now I might have to go back and watch the entire series.

One thing that really hit me hard, which is only a mild spoiler, but… when they finally told her who raped her, her first question was something like "what did I do wrong?" As if she did something to provoke it or deserve it. Just too horrifically realistic a response, seriously hit me.

Yeah, it was a genuinely sobering portrayal of rape. When I said no spoilers I just meant I hadn't put any in my post, not that people shouldn't add any LOL

Try the first season - it was excellent.

I think I might have to. I've never been big on British police/detective shows, but if they're on, I always somehow get sucked in to them. There's something about them that's just better than how the US does it, or the Aussies. I don't know why.

Also, love David Tennant to bits.
