And how bloody awesome to hear that Portland, Oregon are defying Trump's Islamphobic anti-immigration policies and have pledged to keep their doors open to all. Along with 37 other cities. This gives me hope for the future.

It's amazing to see the resistance that is happening. It's nice to know people in the USA understand and can act on being a democratic country.

What is bothering me - well, one of many things - is that some of the anti-immigration actions may leave people stateless, which is a fundamental human rights issue. Especially now that some countries are retaliating and banning US citizens. If you're a dual-national with USA and another country that is banning US citizens, where do you go?

It's a dreadful situation they are creating. I hadn't thought about your dual nationality point but it's a good question. They were interviewing an Iranian man on the radio this morning. He's stranded in Egypt with his family because the US are refusing to allow him to fly to America, even though he has all the right visas AND the main reason he can't go back to Iran is because he worked for the US military there! Another guy had been a US citizen and resident in the US for over 10 years. He'd gone back to Syria or somewhere else on the banned list because his dad was sick - now he can't get home.

I heard that there is a legal challenge being made - I hope this resistance from the people who have the more powerful voices will grow and grow - the judges, the CIA, the Feds, the state governments - let them all stand up and say no. Please!

Honestly, I've never much cared what happens in other countries politically, but if someone like me can see the global impacts of the combination of Brexit and Trump, it must be bad!

I've been following the protests, and the legal challenges, and the lawyers at the airports. It has been amazing to see the support, but also horrible to see that Trump has been able to even do this.

It pisses me off that this is the situation here, that we have to actively state "hey, I may be American, but I'm not a fucked-up piece of empathy-less shit like our Congress and President."

This is supposed to be the land of the free, not the land of the selectively let in because morons are in office.

I'm hoping more and more people start feeling like you and like the guys in Portland, and come to understand that what is being done and proposed is actually more anti-American values than any threat of terrorism. Surely most people will not be happy walled in on all sides, being dictated to (or should that be dick-tated?) by a bunch of billionaires who a clearly happy to flaunt any rule they make if is suits them. All those foreign trophy wives, anyone?

Agreed. I actually live in Portland, but due to the damn surgery, can't march; I just don't have the stamina. I will be donating to the ACLU, though. The idiot in chief is likely to be the most sued person in the history of ever by the time he's finally either impeached or deposed.

Seeing the resistance, the protests, thousands of people flocking to airports and basically shutting them down, lawyers volunteering to help...

I actually had tears running down my face while watching Michael Moore's livestream on FB showing the masses at JFK.

Dump is the most dangerous person on this planet right now - because of the power he has. Reading about all the shit that's happening in the New York Times or Washington Post (stuff that's not reported here in local news) seriously freaks me out. And incenses me.

All we can do is protest and march and support those who fight the good fight. I donated to the ACLU - not much due to financial woes, but I just wanted to do SOMETHING.

It's bad enough viewing all this from the outside, I can't really imagine how I'd be feeling if it was happening here (Brexit is bad enough). But having said that, you are spot on about Trump being dangerous to the world - I think that's why we are all feeling so invested and almost as angry and fearful as you. This is a global society and we can see it now, quite clearly. And that's kind of awesome, really.
