Boring domestic blather
Feb. 20th, 2013 09:00 pmOk, maybe spring cleaning should be done every year instead of every few years -the amount of dust I've hoovered up today just in our living room was scary. All the furniture has been moved around, we now have a space for the reclining armchair our elderly neighbours want to give us as a 'reward' for walking their dog for them but I'm not sure the way I've arranged everything is going to work out.
On the plus side, we can now get to the thermostatic controls for both the radiators and most of the dust is gone. I've even waxed up the floorboards a bit and taken two carrier bags full of books to the charity shop.
On the minus side, I don't like where I've put my sofa. it feels a bit exposed compared to my cosy nest with my back to the bay window, and I've lost the advantage sitting right in the window gave me for lots of natural light. Also, the pine chest is all at sea in the middle of the room and I have no idea what to do with it. And even though the room is nice and clean now, it looks just as much a mess as it did when I started at 8am this morning. And our two existing armchairs that are now in the bay window need something under the blooming castors to stop them bashing into the windows every time someone sits on them. Carpets may not look as nice as old polished floorboards but they do stop things sliding around.
Oh well. I’m bloody knackered now. Time for some Eddie Izzard.
