Zoo & Elf Dentist II

amberdreamsSo I totally forgot to tell you the best thing about my session with the Elf Dentist on Christmas Eve!
Because I was reading my iPad in the waiting room, that initiated our conversation about iPads and Kindles and Jane Austen. That led to us talking (a lot) about books and reading generally, starting with me trying to explain that I wasn’t reading a book on my iPad, I was reading fan fiction. So obviously he wanted to know what fan fiction was, and I had to explain. Having (I thought) safely negotiated that interesting discussion by talking about the hypothetics of someone writing fanfic about Coronation Street, I fell into a bit of a trap later on when for some reason he mentioned the awful writing that is Fifty Shades of Grey. So of course, I pipe up – oh that’s fan fiction, you know. Based on Twilight, yeah the dreadful one about werewolves and vampires. He then says he’s never read any erotica that was any good, and we had a (mercifully brief) discussion of the language used in writing erotic fiction.
I think his assistant (also an Elf) was a little disturbed by this turn in the conversation! To be honest, so was I! The last thing I expect is to have a random conversation about porn with my dentist.
And yesterday we took Paul's little brother (who is now 42 LOL) to the zoo to get him out of the house, away from Paul's toxic father for a bit. So have a couple of gratuitous red panda pics.
