Jared for stripytights

A very, very long time ago, there was a fanworks auction, and stripytights bid for something arty from me. One option she gave me was Sam staring out of a window, so of course I've ended up doing Jared in a beanie. Obviously.

stripytights darling, if you want something more Sammish, please just say so, I'm fine with doing something more in keepig with your wishes! But until then, have some pensive Jared. Also if you want him coloured digitally, let me know - I could try colouring the paper version but I'm scared of messing it up LOL

That's the cropped drawing, here are some progress shots and unbrightened photos.
I started with this basic outline based on this convention photo I found on tumblr (unattributed of course, because...tumblr)

Yeah, I know the angle of the head in the drawing is different...
then did some 4B pencil shading - he took shape surprisingly quickly

Then finished it off with lots more 4B

I was trying to keep this loose and not attempt too much detail or precision.

Be still my beating heart, this is FABULOUS! I'm sure stripytights will love it. It makes me desperately want to get back to my unfinished Jared drawing but I don't have any time right now and I'm horribly slow making art...as in it takes me weeks, sometimes months to finish a drawing.

I am so sorry that I just saw this today - I've not been around at all. It was such a fantastic surprise though - I absolutely love it. I don't mind at all that it's Jared rather than Sam - you've captured him perfectly (also yes! beanie! sorry, have a complete weakness for those - am so glad you included that :D). I particularly love the emotion in this - that look in his eyes, it's so pensive and thoughtful, and there's something about the tilt of the head as well that adds to that in a great way.

I love how you changed the angle to really get across the mood - it worked so well, I just keep staring at it because there's something that draws and keeps the eye. The whole thing is fantastic, you've done an amazing job, thank you so so much.

I find Jared easier than Jensen - his features are more distinctive, I think, but they are both hard. Portraits are not something I'm naturally good at so I'll just keep practising.
