I was trawling the pretty on tumblr and came across a cropped shot of Jensen's lovely face - so I thought I'd stop looking and do something for a change. Out with the biro and sketch pad - yo bitches!

Now I'm kind of wishing I'd tried full face because this isn't too bad!

but then if I'd tried full face, I'd have got something wrong so...

You use standard ballpoints, correct? How do you keep them from blobbing? (I sometimes do thumbnails and rough sketches in ballpoint, but would never dream of doing a finished piece that way because of the surprise!blob issue.) What witchery do you use? ;)

I just keep wiping the nib off on a piece of paper if it starts blobbing. Also I think it's working quite well on this sketch pad because the paper is fairly rough, cheap stuff.

Beautiful! To be honest I've heard a number of artists say Jensen is quite difficult to draw. I guess the pretty is elusive, but you captured him perfect here.
