Surviving!

My Dad is hellbent on testing his bounce-factor before he reaches his 80th birthday at the end of the month. It would appear that diving head first down stairs impairs bouncability somewhat, and whacking your face against a door jamb at the bottom of said stairs is failry traumatic on said face.
So now he's in hospital with a broken neck!!! - he can sit up and walk with a bit of help, is talking and complaining of boredom and the excessive heating systems in hosptial wards, while my Mum is telling him it serves him right for wandering round the house in his outdoor shoes with the laces undone, and refusing to pay attention to where he's putting his feet when descending stairs...
No idea where this leaves our Christmas plans though. Mum had a few nights booked in Norwich before coming down to ours for Christmas itself but I really can't see him being able to travel... I mean - broken neck, folks. Even if it's just cracked vertebrae, it's got to slow him down a bit. We'll hopefully find out more tomorrow when there are more people around in the hospital - weekend staffing is useless.
If you are squeamish turn away now because here he is in all his glory.

Date: 2012-12-16 10:21 pm (UTC)He's very lucky he wasn't hurt worse (though I know that's hard to say in light of the evidence). Wow. Hope he recovers quickly and that your Christmas isn't completely ruined (I know how those are). Sending healing thoughts his way!

Date: 2012-12-17 06:57 pm (UTC)On the one hand it's something you could all absolutely do without, on the other hand, he was lucky things weren't any worse.
I do hope he recovers quickly (he looks and sounds like the sort who will!) and that you manage to salvage something of your Christmas plans.
*hugs*
