For anyone who's interested - this is a pencil and charcoal pencil drawing which I then photographed and edited in GIMP.  The colouring is a layered effect, and the highlights and some blending was done digitally.

Many thanks to quickreaver for her beta'ing advice and words of encouragement! 
I think I have improved it slightly from the first draft,  though I am still not happy with Dean's head, and correcting Sam's leg position was beyond my limited GIMP editing abilities or my eraser as I'd already fixed the paper version!!  One day I will pluck up the courage to power up my wacom tablet and see if I can draw using that...

Mmm charcoal pencils - which are a bit easier to handle than straight charcoal (from what I remember of my last attempts to use the stuff six billion years ago!)

Okay, I'm going to start off with the not shallow part of the review. I love the coloring and the shading. Dean's eyes and hair are amazing and I so love the fact that he's reading on the beach. Naked. With those delicious globes right there so close you can almost...right, sorry, not shallow yet. I love Sam's face and his expression. He seems happy (though who wouldn't be, looking at that).

Okay. Shallow time. Dean's bum is gorgeous. Gorgeously drawn, I mean. Sammy has quite the (not so)little eye catcher there also. Dean's behind and Sam's junk. Who could ask for more?

P.S. I was at the beach yesterday and didn't see anything remotely as interesting as that. Damn it.
