Time travel is one of my all time favourite tropes and I was lucky to snap two lovely authors for this challenge! Here's the first of the two, Back to the Beginning by
jdl71 - a n interesting journey for Sam into Dean's psyche as well as their past.

The main art

Bonus Weechesters (and the heart if the Winchester story)

Process ramblings
The banner was a mix of digital and traditional - I drew and inked the truck with Sam and Walt, and the Kansas sign (based on a photo of a real sign) then did the background and all the colouring digitally. No problem.
The main picture was a different story - I had the concept straight away when I read the Balthazar scene, and found a bunch of fun diner references. Here's an early sketch with some colour swatching.

Then I sketched the scene out on the 'good' paper in my Etchr sketchbook. So far so good.
For some reason I wanted to use gouache, and I really wished I hadn't. It was fine for the backgrounds and the clothing but argh, I couldn't do what I wanted with the faces, and Sam ended up looking like a pig. So I ended up re-drawing and painting his head on a separate page, and literally cutting and pasting it on to cover up Porky Sam.
And I still like the original underdrawing of Sam better than both the end results. LOL
