Time for another spn_j2_bigbang! I thought I'd have a quick look back and I've been doing this challenge since 2011 and done 16 artings for different fics, making this art for a cute J2 story by samanddean76 my 17th! Without further ado....

Finally my author wanted a divider, so I came up with this, to be used however they wanted. I'm not sure it works but I'd run out of time so...


Process stuff for those into it:
When reading the story a few ideas started germinating. I started doodling and narrowed it down to the two scenes I went with in the end.
As always, this part involves lots of searching for references for poses, facial expressions, and this time, cats. Lots of ginger cats. 😻

Here are my doodles/rough sketches to work out composition and the general idea.


Once satisfied this could work, and having got the thumbs up from samanddean76, I moved over to watercolour paper and did all my usual stuff - pencil sketch, inking, watercolouring. I moved fairly quick through each picture this time, so forgot to take any in-progress pics. As you can see, the original thinking did change a bit and some things got flipped/moved around, but the essentials remained the same.

And if you don't mind me asking, what was the font you used for the headline. I'm always on the hunt for good script fonts and I SUCK at finding them.

Yes, that font is called arkipelago. I'm not sure where I found it — I got a lot of free ones from Dafont but it's a while since I downloaded any new ones.
