Rejection blues - art woes.

I know in the scheme of things my woes are not woes at all, but I'm getting increasingly discouraged and depressed about the sculpture trails this year. I submitted some designs I thought were really very strong, and they haven't even been shortlisted; while designs I thought were kind of fillers were put through and then failed to be selected by a sponsor - and it's so bloody frustrating!

I'm watching folk on Instagram announcing commission after commission, and most of them are artists I know and respect, and will do fantastic jobs, but I know some will be naff and that's going to hurt when I see those designs out on the trails knowing I could have done better.

I know I'm whining, and I should be happy and grateful I've got two sculptures waiting for me to paint when I get home, and I am, really. But I'm also fed up about the ones that got away. I so wanted to do a dolphin, a snowdog, a mammoth or a T Rex - a fucking OWL (yet again, my own town trail won't have a painting from me ARGH). Now all my hopes are pinned on hearing about the giraffes (mid March), the Elmers and the Hearts.

I need a late flurry of selections to console me.

Hey, whine away, bb, it's completely understandable to be disappointed! I'm crossing all the things for you to get in on the giraffes, Elmers and Hearts. Wishing you lots of fun with the next two creatures; I know one of them is a giant duck, don't know for sure what the other one is, but can't wait to see your designs!

this is a totally fair whine. it sucks to get passed over in favor of someone you don't think is as good. fingers crossed for the giraffes and the elmers and the hearts!
