Sketchbook Revival 2021

I stumbled across this somewhere and thought it sounded like a fun way to motivate myself to fill up a sketchbook in the absence of my night school course. I managed day one but then the house caught up with me and I'm too knackered to do days 2 and 3 -- yet. Looking at the Facebook site and seeing all the art everyone's creating makes me want to catch up, so maybe tomorrow...
So how it works is you register via this link, and they send you an email every day for a month with two challenges to try. There's no pressure, no targets, you can do as much or little as you want. The joining up email had a link to a how to make your own sketchbook -which I wasn't going to bother doing since I have SO many empty sketchbooks, but then I caved and made a very messy thing.

First the art supplies relay. The challenge was to gather a bunch of different art materials, and then with the video to help do the timing for you, draw a shoe using a different art supply every minute. So here's my selection of stuff, ready to go, with the video cued up.

And the end result

The second task was to fill a page with one line drawings of whatever the lady on the video said to do - hence cats (poor weird things), flowers in vases, and elephants. All very quick and without references - her aim was to recreate a childlike joy in drawing. Then take one of the wiggly creatures and draw an exaggerated coloured version. I wasn't sure when I started, but really enjoyed it by the time I finished.

If anyone wanted to join in, you can just hop on the fun train any time.
