Title: Time to Die
Movie Prompt: Blade Runner
Pairing: None
Rating: PG
Word Count or Media: Traditional art
Summary: Even the most powerful androids have short lives, is it surprising they might rebel against their destinies?
Notes: This was going to be a fic but I just couldn't get the words to co operate, in spite of having 1000 words written and a pretty good idea where the story should go. But I had this image in my head the whole time, so here ya go.
For this scenario  imagine Dean and Sam as Blade Runners and Castiel as rogue Angel Android (ala Roy Batty).

Prismacolor pencils - a first attempt at using them. I half like it, half don't - it's much more textured than I wanted/expected but maybe that was the paper.
I'm so annoyed that I failed to capture the likeness I wanted - and yes I know I'm always moaning about things not turning out right, but that's because they often DON'T!

Here's a couple of progress shots.

And the initial linework which I actually like even though the issue with the face was staring me in my face right here, and I should have corrected it while I had the chance. I think I need to start any portrait with mouth and chin and work my way up instead of starting with the eyes and always ending up with the top half of the face too narrow and the nose too long.

Fascinating! I really would like to read the fic that goes with this. Blade Runner is an all-time movie favorite for me.

Argh, me too on the fave movie front and if I ever manage to get writing again, I promise I'll be finishing the fic! (But in the meantime, you did read [livejournal.com profile] cherie_morte's take on it right? If not, that is no doubt much better than what I was churning out).

No, apparently I missed that one. Do you have a link? Or a title?

I can't recall the title but I know it was written for a previous SPN_cinema (not too long ago) so should be in one of the masterlists.

I don't think most artists are ever really totally happy with their own work; it's what keeps them learning and refining their art instead of stagnating. That said, I think this is wonderful, especially for a first attempt working with new tools. The intensity of those eyes! Perfect for the role and perfectly chilling. Great work.

Thank you so much! And yes, hopefully I am still learning and growing - I keep telling myself that anyway LOL!

This is so damn good. It captures all the feelings of that scene, and the pencil is just beautiful! I love this!

Well he definitely looks like a rogue angel android! He has a very determined expression in his eyes and his cheekbones are awesome! :)

He actually got fiercer as I added the colour - yay, glad you liked the cheekbones!

I don't know, Dean is supposed to be dying by this point, so he would look kind of haggard and unhealthy.
I really loved your black and white line art. I don't have much experience with Prismacolours, so I wouldn't have expected the grain either. I think you did great! And it always blows me away that Rutger Hauer came up with the dialogue for that whole last scene. Talented guy.

I was so sad when Rutger Hauer died, he was such a talented actor.

I love this scene so much; I have a poster of Rutger Hauer at exactly this moment up on my wall. I love what you did with it; the colours are amazing and the pencil texture adds to the rawness of emotions. Very cool. <3<3<3

It's Paul's favourite movie, so we've watched many times - and that scene is just so powerful, it never fails to move me. I'm glad you liked a SPN version!
