SPN and Labyrinth? It had to be done, right? I had a lot of ideas for this but sadly it fell at a bad time so I've ended up with only one piece of art - sorry nerdypastrychef, my dear! I feel I short-changed you! you are the victim of another of my arting experiments... LOL

Process
For some reason, I wanted to try a watercolour for this project, and I'd found this round Italian watercolour block in Shrewsbury, so I was drawn to the circle idea. I wanted to include an actual labyrinth, and while I was searching for ideas, I found a Japanese artist, Motoi Yamamoto, who creates mazes from salt - how appropriate is that? So that's what I've used for the background maze. Check out his work, the mazes are beautiful!

Here's my watercolour painting of Dean, with Sam in the maze at the centre of Dean's brain. I couldn't scan it as it doesn't fit on my scanner. Doh!


I actually kind of hate it now - Dean doesn't look like Dean, and the whole thing's a bit of a mess. But on the other hand, I also kind of like bits - like the overall idea,  the colours (which unintentionally form a bit of a Bowie reference) and the splashing effects. I guess it's a curate's egg of a picture!

I love it! Great concept, marvelous execution; the colours are amazing. THere is still plenty of Dean in there, bb, look at that mm-mm-mouth and gosh that neck is scrumptious.

Aw thank you! And yes, the minute I saw that round block I had to buy it. I've looked online and can't find the same thing anywhere so I don't know if it was the end of a line. It wasn't that pricey either for watercolour paper - I think it was about £17.

Your Dean here reminds me of Bowie and Peter Pan, which can't be a bad thing! I love him, and that Sam is the centre of the labyrinth.

What combo! Actually, there is something Peter Pan-like about Dean, isn't there. The little boy inside who never really grew up, even while he had to shoulder so much responsibility so young.

the idea is so cool, and the salt maze background is perfect. your dean definitely has the right lips and the freckles, even if his hair is really orange. (unless it's orange in the fic, in which case you can ignore my comment. :D )

Not orange in the fic, sadly. That was all me. I'm not even sure what I was doing, I just wanted to play around with colour and that's what happened!

I think it fits with the story idea perfectly! I love the maze with Sam at the centre, and Dean's profile is very pretty and quite Bowie-esque too! :)

The idea with Sam as the price in the middle of the labyrinth really fits. And this is a young experimenting Dean, orange hair indeed! You made me want to read the fic!
