I decided to post everything, even if I absolutely hate what I've done, and to be honest, nothing I've produced so far is hateful but nothing's much good either. But never mind, that's what Inktober's all about, trying to improve inking skills. Which is very necessary for me, as I've realised I know nothing about using ink of any kind! LOL

But that's bye the bye. Onto the inking semi-disasters!

Day one - Swift
P1450936
Yeah, it's supposed to be Gulliver, but I liked the idea more than the execution.

Day two - divided
A bit political but it felt appropriate

Day three - poison
A little fanart outside my usual fandom!
P1450938
Why the heck I started her face there so I had to go over the centre of the book, I dunno.

Day four - underwater
Another one that didn't turn out anything like i wanted. I've got these pigment markers and clearly I have NO idea how to use the buggers.

Plus the paper was supposed to be for markers but was horrible to use. i tried using the blenders, and yuck, not good.

Tomorrow is Long. Better get my thinking cap on...

Very nice! I'm just doing quick little sketches -- which is hard cause I normally sketch in pencil and then ink over it -- and I still have today's to do. I was thinking mermaid as well!

i don't think there's any rule that says you can't pencil then ink - in fact quickreaver posted a link on FB to another professional artist doing Inktober who is doing just that, which I think means it's totally permissable!

These are great. I love the varied subject matter. Ink is a very challenging medium, it is something that needs lots of practice, but once it's mastered, you can do so much with it. I did a couple of stippled pictures many years ago, and that was fun but so time consuming!

It looks like you've got a good handle on using ink!

Ha well I'm glad someone thinks so - thanks for the vote of confidence!

Yay for you posting everything here! I'm so bad at keeping up over at Twitter, so this makes things easy. :D

These look great! Your Gulliver reminds me of Orlando Bloom. I'm not very familiar with the Gulliver story, so at first I thought that it could be some kind of Pirates of the Caribbean art (haven't seen most of those movies either). :)

ha ha I can't remember much about Gulliver except in one part of the story he's a giant, then in another part he's tiny in a land of giants.

I like them all, but I think my favourite is actually poison. I know what you mean about not knowing a damned thing about ink, all last year I stuck to fine liners, black, and a little pencil colouring, and they didn't turn out too bad but they certainly weren't 'art' worthy, lol. This year I've tried doing pen/ink colour and allsorts and I have come to understand my understanding of working in this way is little to none! My Poison one is totally political, I think a lot of people have done a bit of politics in Inktober so far. Good luck with the rest of it, let's hope we improve, huh? ♥

The Ivy one would make a great tattoo. I like the style of it. :D

Also, I have art supplies envy. What exactly are pigment markers, how are they different from a normal one?

Ah! Thanks for linking to the marker review. Seems like there are so many interesting new art pens/pencils out there these days. I just found out about Pencil Pastels the other day. Looking forward to getting myself to an Art Supplies store when next I travel abroad. :)

I really like them all, especially Gulliver and the Lilliputians - great movement there. The drawing for Jared as a merman is lovely even if the markers were a hassle, and Poison Ivy is gorgeous. :)

Hey these are great! I love your interpretation of the "swift" prompt :-) I actually thought it was Captain Jack from Master and Commander :-)
And let me show you my awesome skills of starting a drawing just anywhere on the paper and then just... running out of paper LOL:
Irene and Sherlock

I love the contrast of buff mermaid!Sam and the delicate ruffles on his tail!
