Day 5 - a song that needs to be played loud.

Well Verdi's Dies Irae has to be dialed up to 11, for sure. So loud you can feel those timpani in your sternum and all the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

Not really my cuppa tea, but I love watching the conductor's face! And the RAH is such an impressive building.

Oh I LOVE this requiem. And Carmina Burana, and a whole bunch of opera and classical pieces. It's what I was brought up on. I don't listen that often as some pieces lose their impact with familiarity, Plus since Dad died some opera has been too emotionally charged.

I love some opera and classical, but wasn't familiar with this one. I was brought up on stuff like Simon and Garfunkel, David Essex, T Rex and The Doors by my older sisters! My dad's musical tastes were Marching Bands, James Last and those Top of The Pops records with covers of chart music! But I can see than listening to opera is emotionally charged and brings back memories.

My parents really weren't into anything remotely 'popular' though they tolerated the Beatles, that's about as far as it went. I got all my other musical inputs on my own really, or via friends, but that's left me pretty eclectic.
