This is the banner. I thought I'd try giffing it for a change.

This is the original prompt. I was thinking powers!Sam, or powers!Dean, or both!

The inspiration for the monsters came in part from Japanese mythology and paintings, and in part from nowhere in particular - probably a mishmash of various childhood influences.

Process stuff:
This was the pencil drawing that was the base of the main picture

I probably should have tried to do more on paper, but I got impatient, and digital is quicker.
For the banner, I was only going to use the eye, but as I was drawing it, I ended up extending the sketch out, so decided I'd use the nose and mouth too. This is the sketch, it's done in black biro (ballpoint). I used a photo of a boomslang snake for the background, desaturated and with a PS paint effect.

Oh wow, these are so cool! I love the section with all the monsters surrounding Dean -- there's something a bit Fuseli-esque about it (at least to my untrained eyes), and I'm in awe of your drawing skills as always. And glowy-eyed Sam is always a win. ♥

Hope your author puts in an appearance soon -- I'd love to see what these inspired.

I wasn't familiar with Fuseli so I looked him up - kind of like a William Blake crossed with Caravaggio! Interesting - thank you!

Beautiful! I love the gif of that stunning eye which is wonderfully drawn, and the creepiness of Powers!Sam's blank eyes, and that Japanese inspired monster is very unsettling and captured perfectly!

Oooh, I love this, AM. *smishes* That animated effect is so cool and the image is already so powerful without movement; what an awesome composition and perfect combination of paper and digital work \o/ Same goes for the prompt, it's really great how you linked those drawings together. Gosh, those sketches look good and I love the gouache*, painty* feel of the final version. (* TOTALLY WORDS, OKAY?!)

Ooooh, very very cool!!! Powers!Sam's eyes look awesome, kind of like mother of pearl, and the creatures are super creepy! The eye in the gif banner is gorgeous and together with the snake again very creepy. Good stuff! :D

Your original piece is so gorgeous - also, so many cool possibilities/directions it could go! - and I love the banner! It's really neat to see the breakdown. I have zero ability to art, but I enjoy seeing the process by people who can! Dean's eye, and the reflection in the pupil...so good. And the monsters are truly fantastic, in all senses of the word. Beautiful work. :D
