4th May 1977 I went to Bingley Hall, Stafford to see the Eagles on their Hotel California tour. I don't think my soon to be 17 year old self was that well equipped to enjoy the concert, as reading my diary entry about it this morning made me guffaw. I didn't even write it up straight away!
Here's the entry for a laugh:
A week ago yesterday Sue and I went to Stafford to see the Eagles. It was brilliant, the best concert I've ever been to. The sound was really marvellous, just the right level of noise, so that your ears don't buzz when you get into the quiet. (Yes, that's right folks, I was a true Rock Chick) I was a bit disappointed in the hall itself, though. After paying £3.85 for a ticket (an album at the time was £3!) I expected a good seat, but there were no seats at all, and by the time we got there it was packed. Still we could see quite well and a couple in front of us had a pair of very powerful binoculars which they very kindly let us borrow from time to time which took us slap bang right onto the stage. Mmmm
And that was it! Best concert ever and that was all I could say about it. I didn't even mention nearly getting left behind in Stafford because I couldn't find our coach, and it was actually pulling away when I finally located it. I was such a pompous teenager.
Fortunately, The Eagles music stood the test of time and I still have a few tracks on my current playlist. It will always be part of the soundtrack of my youth, but also of my early fanfic that never got written except in my head - every cowboy fantasy I had contained an Eagles song. Desperado, Bitter Creek, Doolin Dalton, Wasted Time...
As far as it goes, 2016 has been pretty sad.

Date: 2016-01-19 03:01 pm (UTC)To cheer you up a little, in a roundabout way, did you see the price list has gone up for A16 photos and autos? https://rogueevent.co.uk/wordpress/asylum-16-pricelist/
Don't forget you can have my Mark pic if you still want it. June is having my Jim and Matt photos, and Angela is taking my Ty one and maybe Nicki. If you want any of the others let me know - dizzo, sasha and I get our photos included except for Jensen's, and I for one only really want Gil, Mitch and probably Rachel Miner, though even then I'd probably share all but Mitch coz I need to get that one signed for my Aunty Marg.

Date: 2016-01-19 03:10 pm (UTC)1977 was the year I went to see The Moody Blues at Bingley Hall, it's the kind of place where you expect the odd sheep to wander across the stage...
