I Just Thought Maybe... s/d mini bang art

amberdreamsSo here it is, my 2nd post for the samdean_otp mini bang. This one is for 
the_milky_way 's I Just Thought Maybe We Could Find Ways to Fall Apart. The fic master post is HERE.

Summary: This was supposed to be a simple cursed object case. Locate, retrieve, and lock up, you know. Since they are the Winchesters, things are never simple, though. With flashbacks of a past that never happened, a frighteningly clueless brother and time missing from his memory, Dean's pretty sure he's losing his grasp on reality.
Wouldn't be the first time, only his delusions never before made him wish they were true.
I ended up not having as much time as I would have liked to create pieces for this one, which was a shame, but I hope y'all like what I did anyway. If you want to see any of them larger, just click on them to go to photobucket.
First the banner (which ended up being the only purely digital art I did)
I made two text/chapter dividers
The knife and onions were drawn in PaintToolSai, the coffee cup was done with Corel Painter Essentials.
Then I decided one scene particularly appealed to me (could be considered spoilery for the fic so it's under the cut).
I tried drawing and painting the boys using PaintToolSai, then did some more painting of layers in GIMP due to general incompetence with Sai! LOL
And one last minute piece - Sam's Stanford letter.
So onto the resources for anyone interested:
For Sam and Dean sitting on the porch
I used a photo of a couple on a beach I found on Google as a reference for the boys seated figures, but no reference for their faces (which is why they don't much resemble Dean & Sam!)
Textures on the porch photo was called "summer" but I forget where I found it, so that's not very helpful, is it!

Sam and the letter
I made up the letter in word using the Stanford letter head found on a google search
I then digitally painted the paper and Dean's hand in Sai, and finished them off in GIMP
Sam is entirely drawn and painted in GIMP based on a black & white promo shot of Jared I think from Gilmour Girls days
The background is a stock photo by phatpuppy

I love the porch scene, they look so happy. And Sam's face expression when Dean is reading the Stanford letter.
