It's quiet here at the moment so here's a selection of my J3 photos. I hope someone videoed this panel...Jeff's voice is just like treacle. Yum.

He loves his boys, and he kept saying so. He defended John Winchester with passion!

Look at that face! He's just SO damned attractive! In my photo op with him, after we'd got the pic in the bag, I folded up the newspaper and turned round to say thank you and he was right there, grinning at me over those glasses - oh boy! I nearly melted.

There was a lot of laughing going on - it was a bit hard to catch all three perfectly at the same time but I had to post this one because I love seeing Jensen do that head throwing laugh.

I have a ton more but I'll finish here with JDm because damn when are we going to see him again I wonder...though he did say several times he loved it, and wanted to come back because he loves being with his boys so much, and loved having the chance to interact with his audience and fans. Plus I overheard him telling the girl in front of me in the autograph queue that he owes Wayne now, for having to leave a day early. (There wasn't a dry eye in the house when he told everyone he had to go to take care of his sick dog...).


Oh and all the photographers amongst you - most of my pics with my new camera are quite grainy when you zoom in - what was I doing wrong? How can I get them much sharper?

Yep, some are ok when the lighting was up a bit but I was wondering if there's a way to get them sharper even when the lighting is low... Probably not. There was no flash photography allowed at all, not even for the first few minutes.

I was looking at apps for iPad yesterday and saw an app for smoothing out the grains and another one for sharpening. I forgot the names of the apps, but you can browse app store for photo fix apps. I'm sure there's plenty to do the job. PS helps too.

I would LOVE for a good reason to bring John and JDM back. He was so funny about John - he basically said he didn't care what the writers and other actors had done with them since, the man he played loved his sons and died for them.

Was the problem on playback or in the room? What resolution did you have the camera set to? Low res means more manageable file sizes but when you enlarge the pixels you tend to lose clarity. Were you using flash or natural lighting?

No flash allowed so it was all reliant on the light available - and I think the lighting rig was set up to cycle through some whiter, brighter lights (where I got some fairly sharp ones) and those pink/purple/blue lights where my shots are grainy.

I don't actually know what resolution the camera is set to at the moment - I need to check that! Thanks...

I don't know what kind of camera you're using but on DSLRs and some of the better bridge cameras you can manually set the aperture for available light source, so there's another possible option.

It's a Panasonic GH4 (three quarter mirrorless system) so yep, I could fiddle with the settings manually.

OMG!! That's one of the best cameras on the market. 4K and everything. I actually wanted to get the GH3 but opted for the G6 instead since the GH3 wasn't on the Panasonic incentive list and the GH4 required too many points. I work for Panasonic and once a year we get an incentive scheme which rewards us for selling certain high-end TVs with points which can be redeemed for Panasonic products. We essentially get them for half price (though no actual money changes hands since it's all points based).

But I digress. A camera like that is capable of taking professional quality shots with a bit of jiggery pokery in the manual or semi-automatic settings.

Damn I am a bit late to get the hang of it before JIB now! Maybe the stage lighting there will be brighter anyhow. How cool you work for Panasonic... I had a G1 before and I do love it a lot (though I never really got to grips with it's full potential either - too lazy to learn). I read the reviews of this one and thought it sounded good so went mad and bought it.

Ooh, just saw these ones - those boys are just precious together!

Most of my actual photography experience is with film, not digital, but I usually associate grain with low light. The results will depend a lot on your lens, but if you have manual settings, lowering the f-stop and slowing the shutter speed will let in more light. Although, it can also increase blur and the need for a tripod. I think with digital cameras the ISO setting can also play a big part in the amount of grain.

Regardless of this supposed grain, your photos make my current camera jealous!
