SPN100 Drabble Challenge: word count 100

Challenge word: narrow

Warnings: none

Summary: Never say death means nothing to a Winchester.

Never say death means nothing to a Winchester.

Each time death takes them, the grief and fear is the same. The fact that – so far – it hasn’t been permanent doesn’t matter to their hearts. Each time it’s a knife sliding in, a sucker punch to the gut, the vacuum suction sealing them inside an airlock, stealing their breath.

Each ending hurts. Each parting is worse than the dying itself.

Each time death takes them, the gap between them narrows. Soon there will be nothing between them, not even air – and then Death will never be able to separate them again.

This is so true - it may be that no-one says dead on Supernatural, (apart from Bobby apparently) but it still doesn't hurt any less for our boys :(

Poor Bobby...but even he came back once! Or at least he stuck around, then had his soul liberated

Yes, very much, both to the eternal pain of death (because it really never loses its impact, and really does feel a lot like a revenge resurrection, in Castiel's words). But also the shy, but strong hope your last sentence speaks. Beautiful, love. <3

"The fact that – so far – it hasn’t been permanent doesn’t matter to their hearts."

This is so true, because they've never expected to come back from death and always mourned the passing of the other. You packed a bittersweet punch here in 100 words.
