I thought they said the East was going to get a reasonable view? Not here. It was thick cloud of the kind where it was actually impossible to tell where the sun was, let alone see anything of this partial eclipse we were having. It just got a little bit greyer. Even the birds were unimpressed, they carried on singing and flying around as if nothing was happening. Last time everything went quiet (even in the centre of London you could hear the birds stop) - and you could also feel the temperature drop. This time it was already so chilly if the temperature did go down a couple more degrees, it was imperceptable.

Very disappointing!

Took a couple of photos but they could be on any grey day really.

This was 08:40 (the eclipse started around 08:30)
08:41 a bit grey
08:55 - a bit greyer?
08:52 a bit greyer?
09:25 (peak of the eclipse was supposed to be 09:30 but it never got any darker than this that I could tell)
09:22 grey
All in all, a bit of an anticlimax.

Yeah, it was definitely a bit underwhelming up north too. It's quite sunny here so there was a weird kind of half-light for a while which was cool, but like you said, it was mostly like a grey day. I definitely remember it being much darker during the last one.

Yes! Me too... but was it a total eclipse last time? I can't remember now...

Definitely not as far north as you! I'm in the north west of England. :)

We got a bit of a view up here in Edinburgh. Like a very bright crescent moon. Nothing overwhelming though.

Ah right - I think the last one was more impressive, but then we didn't have cloud then!

Oh! You should have got it as a total eclipse that far north, right? Did you get any photos?

My parents got a decent view too, in Shropshire - looks like west was better than east!

Clouds. Then more clouds. Which where followed by clouds.

I'm just sorry for the kids, they've been so excited.

Our skies went slate grey and everything went really quiet but that was it, then again our town has it's own weather system so we were always on a hiding to nothing for being able to actually see the eclipse!

I was listening and watching our birds - nothing happened, they just carried on as normal. Another cause for disappointment.

Ours did go quiet but that was pretty much all that happened, lol.

I completely forgot about the eclipse and if it hadn't been for the news, would not have remebered it at all such was its impact here (yet Cheshire, not that far away was supposedly one of the best places to see it.

What was obvious was how cold it went afterwards. The morning had started out beautifully bright and then it went down hill following the eclipse.

We didn't even get that here - it was already so cold that morning I couldn't tell if the temperature dropped when it happened at all!
