I should be doing my art for the fabulous dollarformyname's Dark Angel Big Bang, but I got distracted looking for reference pics of Alec and Ben so now I HAVE to share the pretty. Because Alec and Ben were so very, VERY pretty. Wounded, broken boys covering all that hurt with cocky bravado. So? I think we've already established, I have a type, okay?

Aww, he's kind of like baby Dean in several of the pics :P.

It's so weird because I watched Dark Angel when it was originally on TV (mainly S1, because I was at uni without a TV when S2 aired, so I didn't really keep up with it) and for years afterwards, whenever I thought about Dark Angel, just one scene always stood out in my mind: Max and Ben fighting in the woods in Pollo Loco. Jensen did such a great job as Ben that his one appearance in one episode was what defined the show for me :P.

I didn't realise until after I'd seen 6 seasons of SPN and started getting involved with the fandom, that the guy in that one Dark Angel scene which had stuck with me for over 10 years was Dean Winchester :P.

YES! If you haven't watched Season 2 and Alec, you are missing out on something special. Alec is even more a young Dean than crazy Ben was - he really made that second season into something special (in my opinion!)

I've never seen the Ben episodes, but I love Alec. Like you, I think it definitely is a case of the sweet and vulnerable bad boy characters that's the pull for me. Jensen played Jason Teague in Smallville, but although he was (obviously) very pretty to look at, as a character Jason left me totally cold.

I did actually watch season 2 when it aired in 2001/02, but as I had no TV (and if I had, I wouldn't have had Sky anyway), I had to get my dad to record it for me on VHS and I could only catch up with the episodes every few weeks when I went home to visit... as a result, the season was really disjointed for me (especially when he forgot to record it :P) and I barely remembered what happened in it (I wasn't keen on all the weird animal transgenics stuff and I have a massive fear of snakes :P).

A couple of years ago, after I had watched SPN and realised it was Jensen in DA, I bought the Dark Angel DVDs and rewatched the entire series (I also rewatched S6 of Dawson's Creek when I realised 'Jen's boyfriend' from that season was Jensen too :P).

This is beautiful and gorgeous and just the thing I needed to see before heading to bed! I LOVE Alec so much and I felt so sorry for Ben, bless his serial-killer socks! I haven't read any DA fics, just one DA/SPN crossover so I'm going to check out this DA Big Bang, thanks! :)

I have a folder with 8453 screencaps of Alec, extracted from some of the episodes because I was trying to find one with the right expression with his head facing the right way. I haven't filed it away yet because I was thinking I'd do something with all the pretty. Maybe some icons...

I'll definitely be reading that! Just looking at those last few pics of Ben makes me sad, it was so tragic what happened to him and how he died, but at least he didn't end up with the 'nomalies!
